I think iPlayer checks for where you are and doesn't work outside of the UK.

Actually it depends on the seeder's upload speed. The original sender will send out a copy of the file. A seeder will take that file and mirror it to a second user and so on. If the seeder that you're getting supplied by has a fast upload speed, you will get a fast download. 8)

Thats why I do it on the BA server and then download via FTP. Much quicker.

There's a very low chance of you getting caught since there is generally not enough evidence to prove that you are guilty. If you are paranoid, you can use encryption, a feature of most BitTorrent clients, to hide your IP address from those who want it.

Usually the most you'll get is an e-mail from your ISP telling you to stop downloading free stuff.

Strangley, Most people are 8-)
I like those really cool "dont download pirate movies" adds on dvd's, they make piracy look so much cooler than it really is, with the rock music and the stealing tv's, makes me feel cool :P

Encryption doesnt hide your IP.
It just sends bs data to your ISP so they cant see its P2P traffic thus preventing them from slowing you down/filtering it.

I hate the ones that say "You wouldn't blah blah" and then it goes you "You wouldn't steal a movie", while playing it off a copied disc/downloaded.

Well, either way it helps not get caught in one way or another.

Encryption does not stop you from getting caught. The only sure fire way to avoid that is not to do it. Encryption does one thing and one thing only, it masks the fact it is bittorrent you are using to transfer data. Thats it. Its mainly used to avoid throttling of bittorrent protocol by ISP's and it even does a poor job at that.

On topic, I read a few weeks back that the DMV in the US was looking to ban license plates with WTF because people complained that it was offensive. 8-)

Yeh, ISPs tend to use Ports mainly (it's easiest for them) but can also distinguish P2P by the number of connections. Using P2P will result in a lot of connections to a lot of different people.
