I thought this was interesting. Don't know how long it's been going on but I just stumbled across that Folding@Home has beta clients out that make use of your GPU, they have betas for ATI and nVidia cards.

Check out their forums: http://foldingforum.org/viewforum.php?f=31

Sadly you need an nvidia card that support CUDA (8-series and above.) if you want to use the nvidia GPU version. :(

AMD contacted the guys at BOINC some time ago with the aim of developing a BOINC client utilizing the Radeon GPU, which due to its far improved performance over the Nvidia GPU in term of sheer number crunching ability, would seem like a great idea. Unfortunately, sod all has happened. Nvidia drivers are bad on a good day, but the CUDA drivers are even worse. I had them installed while taking part in the GPU MP3 encoding contest and gave up after a couple of days of BSOD. I hate to think how mugh time and effort would be wasted folding given Nvidias driver track record.
