Ever since I re-installed Windows XP Home, loads of JavaScript functions in web-pages do not work. I'm using FireFox 3 and have all the JS functions enabled.

One example of this, is updating my status on MySpace which uses the function:
Code:
javascript:set_updateStatusFormVisible(true);

Which doesn't work when clicked...

So could anyone help me out, because its getting beyond a joke. I bet the solution is very simple as well.

Edit....

I narrowed it down to Norton Internet Security. I disbaled the whole thing and all my JS functions worked. So the question is what part of NIS, is diabling the JS functions.

Thanks

Isn't there a built-in script blocker in Norton AntiVirus? Try disabling that.

Options > Norton AntiVirus > Script Blocking > Uncheck 'Enable Script Blocking'.

He already solved the problem in his edit.

I hate anti-virus software that takes control of your browser without telling you. Infact, I hate Norton with a passion. Anyone using it should be shot. And I'm not kidding.

My Dad swears by Norton but I wouldn't touch it even with a 2 mile long barge pole. In the last 3 years, I have never used a firewall or anti-virus on my PC's. Ever. I have never had a virus or been hacked. I use my PC's about 14 hours a day most days. My Dad uses Norton. He uses his PC about 2 hours a week average. In the last 3 years he's had no less than at least 3 viruses a year.

The reason for this is simple. I know what I go on, websites wise. I don't download and run files I don't trust and I certainly don't use Internet Explorer like he does which is how half of the stuff he gets comes in. Its all down to simple precautions (like in sex! ;)) to prevent these things from happening.

Well, I was responding to this part:

Norton AntiVirus is a part of NIS, so disabling the script blocking in NAV would likely solve the problem.

However, I don't know for sure, because I also steer clear from Norton. It's simply AWFUL! I had to help a friend remove NIS from his computer about a year ago when he bought a new Vista comp loaded with crapware (he didn't want to reinstall the OS - not prepared), and it was a nightmare. Even their removal utility was practically useless. Got it resolved anyway...

Andy, 14 hours a day? Yowzers! I figured you were a busy guy, but that's a lot of PC time. :P

Yes unless I have something planned, e.g. a trip out with family/friends I am on the computer 14 hours a day almost. I guess that's what has made BA what it is today :P

Turns out it was the Ad-Blocking feature.

I like Norton personally... however I shall be removing it before I upgrade to Vista... yes Andy I am upgrading :P
