I tend to use common sense alone on my computers, but if I have to install an Anti-virus on a paranoid person's PC, I'll always use Avast. Great for a free program.

Edit: 999 posts

Avast! since I can remember. Started out with the free version, but upgraded to Pro. Tried all the others, but Avast works the best for me.

AVG Free 8 all the way. It even has a link scanner built into it, so when you do Google searches, it'll let you know if it's a safe link.

I really use mainly common sense, but just as a fail safe, I use Kaspersky and Spy Sweeper. A little overkill, I know, but I want to be ASAP (as safe as possible). :)

A friend of mine had the same case, yet, he was very happy to switch to AVG.
Give it a chance! AVG v8 is really great!

My favorite Anti Virus Software is probably AVG Free 8, sure people say that AVG has had problems in the past, it's not the best, but it's better than the other Anti Virus software out there. Seriously though, if you're going to criticize AVG, at least try it first.

on 3 PCs (10 OSs/partitions) i use Avast! & on 1 (Vista ) i use NOS32 + common sence on the all.

The servers (WHS & Server 2008) I use common sence only, as i dont want to break the bank buying a server AV.

I used to swear by nod32 but i recently tried avast free and liked it so much i bought pro, and with this i use spybot + comodo pro.
The safest i`ve ever been i think and none of them impact system speed in the slightest.

I use common sense on my own PC, for anyone else I suggest AVG. It's small, easy, and doesn't slow down your PC.

I use Norton 360 or NIS.

you should try nod32 for speed but it has horrible detection and is unable to remove threats most of time.

NOD32

it's awesome. Just got a few virus on my computer and they didn't touch any serious :P

But the antivirus usually detect them before I download files or I click some sites :P

It's great, try it out

Avira is great, too. Forgot about that one. Didn't care for the ads, but who's complaining?

Nod32 -- ehh, to me it's overrated. But many people are very fond it. |-)

I use OfficeScan Client/Server Edition 8.0 which is best Antivirus/Antispyware in my opinion. It works in back ground and continuously scans files and folders and unlike other antivirus where we have to start scan which takes lots of memory.

And remember that Avira is, at the moment, the only (free) ant virus which incorporates rootkit detection and cleansing. The UAC merely warns of its presence
