IRC bandwidth?

Post by missingno »

Hey, I need some help calculating this out.
For an average IRC server, what would be an average estimate of bandwidth used to connect to the server to chat and such? I'm putting a mobile IRC client on a new Treo I'm getting, and AT&T's 1 cent per kilobyte data rate makes me worry I'm going to spend $20 or so a month on IRC data alone.

Thanks!

You can get the unlimited data plan from ATT for that much though. Why not just do that and not worry?

FailNet IRC uses ~25MB of data on it and it usually only has 10 users max with a couple of channels...

Family plan. And my parents disapproval of me using major data.

I would rather just get away from the internets...
