iWinUX database dead

Post by Andy »

Sorry I just had to post this
Dear iWinUX members,
Unfortunately, by accident, Ludacris dropped the IWX MySQL database tables.
This means that the content of the board has been erased.
I have a not-so-recent backup, and I am working to find a more recent version.
I am sorry for the set back.
If you have questions, email me at sam@samobletz.com

I am sorry to hear that, but have this rule in mind everytime you mess with a database or system files (or whatever):

Make a backup first before you start working.

I know it's annoying to always hear that "backup" word, but it's soo simple and saves soo much trouble.

I hope you find a recent backup tho.

Reminds me of Nerdspeak, somebody did something to it and none of the admins took backups of the forum database.

Ahhhh Nerdspeak the days where andytek was ridiculed.

Also remembers me a friend that deleted by accident MySQL databases of two sites he owns (both use WordPress). (Edited 26/Nov/2009)

Sorry I just had to post this
Maybe its time to change the topic title.
Dear iWinUX Members,

"It seems that everything in life has its bumps in the road."

Recently, we had an unfortunate accident involving the database while Ludacris was working with it and the board's content was lost.
You may have noticed the "updates" on the front page and how we had the board locked out - this was why.
We were originally going to have to restore from a month old backup.
Thanks to some skill and luck, we were able to use an uncorrupted, more recent backup of the database with minimal content loss.

We apologize for any inconvenience, but all good communities have their ups and downs, and this was unfortunately a rather soon and unexpected one.

Now that we're back, we're returning once again to all the forecasted features and material we have planned on our back burner for you all to enjoy in the future.
Right now we have a wiki, gallery, and many other forum tweaks completed, along with the front page running beautifully.

Once again, welcome back, and feel free to contact us at support@iwinux.net with any questions, concerns you may have.

Thanks,

Sam

Well they are a "competitor" to this forum remember so maybe aggravating isn't such a bad thing to do

"competitor" yes, but we are bigger than them and there nothing to really intimidate us at all is there?

I am just saying, Keep your friends close but your enemies closer.
