Got this email (through ebay):
Quote:
Q: I have interest in your item you listed for sale on ebay and I will like to buy the item to my friend as Gift in Africa and i will like to pay through electronic secure online payment (Paypal). So please if you are interested in selling this item for me, kindly send me your your Paypal ID or send me paypal payment request with your item number and ebay id through my email(jgooch@verizonmail.com) to secure this transaction and I will be able to send out the money immediately via Paypal. Please i will like to offer you £200 Pounds for the last price with the shipping charges to Africa Via Royal Express Mail and i will make the payment as soon as you provide me your paypal email address or send me paypal payment request with item number and ebay id to secure the transaction through paypal. Thanks, Jerry jgooch@verizonmail.com Tel; ----------

I looked up "verizonmail.com", its a Verizon branded email service that anyone can sign up to. And the telephone number did not have an international code (so it could be from anywhere). Plus, a new PSP in America would probably be cheaper than over here. Its also against ebay policy to complete transactions outside of ebay. I think this could be a scam.

Definite scam. Report the user, claim back listing fee's and re-list.

If you look closely it was only a question that was posted, not an official bid.

Yeah but thats why scammers do it.

A year or so ago I put a laptop on eBay as a buy it now. I specifically said I will not send to anywhere other than the UK, no exceptions. Someone from Nigeria bought it and wanted me to send it to their cousin in Africa or something and would pay the full shipping costs etc. Obviously a scam. Reported to eBay and they agreed with the person being a scammer. They removed his account and refunded me my listing fees which was about £4.

There is a setting somewhere where you can block bids from accounts registered in countries other than those you've said in your listing you will ship to.
