I think the 360 is better. It has more games and more memory. The ps3 has great graphics but it doesnt have as many games.

360, No Doubt!

Plus it has some great titles:

Dead Rising, Halo Series, Viva Pinata: Party Animals and so many more... :)

I just skimmed through to the end so sorry if this has been mentioned before.

Since I've never owned either of these consoles, you shouldn't really take my advise. But I'll give it to you anyway:

First some technical similarities:
  • Both the PS3 and the Xbox 360 have 3.2GHz PowerPC-based processors.
  • Both support internal hard drives
  • Both have optical disc based media
  • Both have an online service (Xbox Live and Playstation Network)
  • Both have USB ports
  • Both are backward compatible with older versions
  • Both are 256-bit
  • Both are HDTV compatible
And some technical differences
  • The PS3 has a faster graphics chip by 50MHz
  • The Xbox 360 is cheaper than the PS3
  • The Xbox 360 has more memory than the PS3
  • The PS3 takes up more space and weighs more than the Xbox 360
  • The Xbox 360 allows VGA output
  • The Xbox 360 has more known faults than the PS3

With all of the above tech specs, it seems the Xbox 360 is good value compared to the PS3, but it all comes down to personal preference. Personally, I think I'd pick the PS3 just because I have a PS1 and a PS2 so I know what the Playstation family is like. I've never had an Xbox so it just seems logical to get a Playstation if you've been following the family ever since it started.

And you forget that the Xbox 360 also works with Media Center from Vista.

seeing as basically the only major differences between the consoles are that the PS3 has a BD drive, I made my console decision on what games i like: i like PS3 exclusive more than i like 360 ones, so i went with a PS3. Simple. =)

Makes sense as Vista and the Xbox 360 both come from Vista.

you can do that on the PS3 though, and the PS3 will also stream off mac and linux.

So that's not an exclusive feature.

I used to be a huge 360 fan untill I got my ps3 for MGS4. I havent touched my Xbox since. Ill ad mit that the 360 has some incredible games, but the releases this year have been lackluster compared to the ps3 and that dosent look like its going to change (Gears of War 2 looks waay too much like the first game for my liking, it was fun but overhyped)

The free online for ps3 is a great bonus, although it is not as centralized as Xbox LIVE is, it has comparable feartures for no cost at all. Also, the difference in potential is beginning to show, with developers finally starting to squeeze more graphical power out of it.

You can't really compare their processors by saying that they are both PowerPC based or by comparing their clock speed. You can hardly compare two CPUs made by the same company by clock speed anymore. Their CPUs are EXTREMELY different. Besides that, does it really matter what you think of the systems? No. Mostly, it matters what the game developers think. You guys should go read about that.
