OK, this is the story. Suppose you are in a hostage situation. The terrorist says you can go free, but you have to lose either an arm or a leg. You cannot go free unless you lose one of them. If you try to fight, you get shot and die. If you don't fight or choose to lose a limb, you stay a hostage forever and live a long, miserable and tortured life. Your only means of escape is to lose one of the two limbs.

Which would you choose?

I would choose a leg. Why? Simple. I can still get around with one leg using crutches or a wheelchair. Without two arms, life becomes more difficult, like dressing yourself, preparing food, moving things, using a computer, etc. You would depend on other people more.

I'm a guitarist so losing an arm is totally out of the question. My left arm was paralyzed for a few months a couple of years ago and while I could do pretty much everything else I used to do the guitar-bit was driving me crazy. Glad I got it back. :)

i,d rather loose a arm, 1= my friend lost his arm and he s ok, he has trouble getting work because people think he,s useless but he aint! 2= when i was 7 i had a operation on my leg and i got a golden staff infection from the operating theater , i came damn close to having my leg cut off so can say without a doubt that i would rather loose a arm.

If any employer said he was useless in the UK then he could sue the company/employer because of equal rights laws. Any disabled person (anyone with a missing limb is classed as 'disabled' also) has the same rights to work as anyone else. The only thing that would prevent them getting a job is if they physically needed two arms/two legs etc to do the job.

australia has anti discrimination laws but you have to prove it, no ones says to him "your useless" but he goes to job interviews, they see that he has a arm missing ,they give him the old " dont ring us,we will ring you" and they show him the door.

I'd rather lose a leg. I suppose I could do with the remaining one but I can't quite imagine myself having only one arm as activities I've become so used to would get much more difficult. I've to add when I was younger (up to age 4) my right arm & leg were literally paralyzed but back then it was not that much of a problem for me because I didn't have a computer, I just spent the day reading books and stuff, which is possible using one arm. Having been unable to walk sucked, however.

10 long years, frig the scene anymore.

Kids think they have deep in sources at the age of 12, why bother caring when no one receives respect anymore, they assume bullcrap, but that's all they are.

probably my leg

prosthetics for legs are always more convincing than those for arms.

The leg. Even without a leg you can be a champion runner. For a leg prothesis, you need no electronic stuff, like for an arm. You can ride a bycicle, drive a car, no problem.

But how about this: would you rather loose an eye or an ear?

I'd rather lose an ear. Your eyes are your view of the world. You can live with one ear but one eye is harder because its harder to judge distance. Also your eyes are more precious and easy to damage.

Well, I already lost an eye, but it does not limit me much. You cant even tell, unless we play ping-pong :D However how much I enjoy good music and stuff, I would not give up on my ear. I can hear you coming miles away :D

Sorry to hear that. So it is true that other senses get better if you lose another sense.

I'd rather lose a leg. Preferably my left one. Fortunately automatic transmissions allow me to drive a car with easy with only one leg.

I also would choose my legs i think, i think arms are more important, but the best is always having both, arms and legs
