I don't know how many of you have heard it on the news but the Norovirus stomach bug is plaguing the UK's shops, schools, work places, and anywhere people gather in large amounts.

This morning in the early hours I was awoken to very bad stomach pains and the urge to throw up VERY badly. This is still continuing as I speak. Up until a few hours ago I was unable to keep any fluids down (let alone food) and my stomach was constantly in cramps.

This is the second time in a month I've had the virus. I got it a week before Christmas and again in the early hours of today. Its very very unpleasant and the only thing you can do is try to sleep it off. Pain killers don't help much because by the time you know you have it, and take a pain killer, an hour or so later you throw it all back up, so the pain killer can't take effect. Yes, it really does affect you that quickly.

For those of you who can't quite grasp how bad it is, see this link: http://www.cdc.gov/ncidod/dvrd/revb/gas ... rus-qa.htm which explains pretty much everything.

Has anyone else been unfortunate enough to have this virus yet?

Hope you feel better soon Andy :)

I have not had the misfortune of having it (touch wood) and hopefully i wont, although many people that i know have had this. Remember the advice to stay in isolation for 48 hours after all the symptoms have cleared

I remember having something very similar to this for three days when I was 13 or 14. Whatever I ate or drank, didn't matter what it was, medicine, crackers, water, would come back up (or out) in about 20 minutes. In addition, I just felt like [censored] all over. On day two my mother took me to the Doctor's office. In retrospect it was kind of funny: I came in with my pajama shirt on carrying a bucket. The Doctor gave me something that helped me a little and told me to drink plenty of Gatorade and water.

My sympathies go out to you and I hope you get to feeling better.

Thanks guys. Feeling better now, but I haven't eaten in over 30 hours so I'm going to try something this morning. I'm still not great, still feeling tired and weak but thats to be expected I suppose.

The joys of wireless, lying in bed ill and not being bored...

I've just slept for 24 hours solid pretty much apart from when I was in pain or throwing up.

Hopefully the Flu Shot I got last November will handle this one too, I haven't read one way or the other.

I don't think it will because its not that type of flu. I read that its totally different from normal flu, even though its called a "stomach flu". However its only spreading the UK, so anyone outside the UK should be OK.

Its 2.45PM here. I am feeling much better. I managed my breakfast and nice pint glass of juice to help re-hydrate myself.
