No point in this thread being stickied to be honest.

There seems to be a weird connection with old Dell PCs being used as servers...

Tehnically, this is the only dedicated 'server'.
Image
Functions:
Web Server (XAMPP. with Apache2.2), File Server (Shared Folders), maybe a Telnet server, not sure, DNS (MS DNS Server), DHCP (MS DHCP Server), Active Directory (Domain Server, Domain Controller, etc) Remote Desktop Server (MS RDP) and Torrent Server (uTorrent)

All the other networked PC's could also be considered servers, as they all share files.

Probably just that Dell are the most common PCs so more people have them than any other brand.

By the way, if words are underlined in red in Firefox or any other spelling checker then it tends to mean that they're misspelt.

Right click in a text field that has more than one line and make sure "Spell check this field" is ticked, and that there is a dictionary installed and selected under Languages in that same menu.

Click here then, go down to English (British) and click Install, then Install on the dialog that pops up, then restart Firefox.

Just finished banging one together out of odd junk I'd accumulated over
time, & just finished installing all needed software...
Just a junker, dual PIII-700 , 1gig of ram, & 6 x 18gig scsi drives I'd
removed from junked out servers, & a 20gig ide drive to run it on...
Also a 3 1/2" floppy drive, a 5 1/4" floppy drive & a zip250 drive, 2 case
fans to pull some heat out of these stack of hard-drives, {which seem to
run awful hot being so many, so close together}
& a DVD/CD combo burner....
Not much of a connection though, 1500/256 kbps which equates to me
getting 161 kilobytes/sec down & 25.5 up...
Now to test it out... :P

Thats funny. My server used to be a VAIO that looked exactly like that until I gave it away (on loan) to someone who needed a computer way more than me. Now I just use my desktop computer (which is down) as my server. I'll post a picture of it sometime in the future.

Don't pressurize him. Be glad that KenOath has come back to us. He'll set up a server for us if/when he feels like doing so.

Depends what ISP KenOath is with as now alot of Aussie ISP's are counting uploads... afaik he was with Telstra (as per the your isp thread)

Edit: if it is Telstra he gets slugged $150/gb excess, not capped.
