I'm trying to get Ubuntu to work on VPC 2007, but the mouse won't work. Is there anything I can do about this? Slackware's the same, and Red Hat just won't boot (keeps on about the filesystem not being clean, check forced, etc... it gets to 12.6% and then goes back to sleep).

I'd put it on the desktop machine, but that's been retired now.

Actually, it should work out of the box. Well, try to reconfigure the X server. Enter this in a terminal:
Code:
sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg

and go through the X server configuration, leaving all settings untouched until you get to the mouse configuration part. Select a standard PS/2 mouse as I think that's what VPC emulates. Please post back if that works.

hmm, thats strange. whenever i've tried ubuntu in VPC the mouse always worked out of the box and as the emulated hardware is the same i have no idea what could be going wrong.

are you running this live or have you installed it?

I ran it live, and then installed it, but no dice. The keys kept getting stuck too (in the emulation).

Hell with it, I think I'll get a cheap laptop to put it on :).

This behaviour is anything but normal, I've never seen that. I'm used to mouse misbehaviour in QEMU but not in VPC...
