C2D : Options wanted

Post by hougtimo »

Hi all,

I have now decided I want to go C2D but I don't just want to go recklessly spending as I am on a budget (not price limit, but the cheaper the better). I'm not shy to overclocking so quite willing to get a lesser chip and oc it up.

What do you guys reckon would give most bang-per-buck (£)?

Also would like opinions on motherboards...need one that will oc decently.

Cheers

HougTimo

I just purchased

this motherboard: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6813128063

and this c2d: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6819115030

and 2 gb of ram.

They haven't arrived yet, but I'll tell you how I like them once they arrive.

(Edit: I just noticed that the c2d went up $15 since I ordered it..)

I would get the same CPU, but I would get this motherboard instead.

This motherboard should allow you to overclock a lot more.
