I was wondering do the dual/quad cores share the cpu cache for all the cores... How is this sharring done? Who shares the cache better AMD or Intel...

Who makes the two cores work better... AMD or Intel...

What would you take, a high end AMD Dual core or the Intel Quad core?

//
Should I buy a graphics card instead?

First of all, Intel's core 2 shares their cache between the 2 or 4 cores.
Older Intel Dual Core (pentium D) chip's core each have their own cache.
AMD's Dual core have a seperate cache for each core.

The sharing is done simpily as when a core need to cache data, it uses it's cache, when the other core need to cache data, it will use the same cache. So one could take all 4MB while the other take close to none, but this is a rare instant and should not happen.

Who shares better, AMD does NOT share the cache, intel core 2 does.
That's your answer.

What would I take? Oviously the core 2 quad, extreme edition (QX6850) if i got the cash. Of course everything have a price that you got in pay for, Core 2 simpily more expansive. A FX-74 cost abit more than $400, while the Core 2 quad extreme cost more than $1100.

Okay...

Now I am wondering, which CPUs have better cache hits? AMD or Intel? If one of the cores misses will, in the case of a 8 meg intel quad core intel, there occur a dump of 8 megs?

Also, which one of these two would you choose?
