i got my old jornada 720 workin again the other day with fully functional battery, wifi card, and 512mb CF card, but i dont no wut 2 do with it. i would like 2 put linux on it, but it requires a card reader and linux, which i dont hav and cant afford right now. any suggestions?

I dont know much about these but you should be able to do it all through USB? I just read a tutorial which says that all you need is a CF card 64mb or up, Plus you can freely download Linux and the Distros are only around 10mb which you could download even on dial up with not too much trouble. All you need is a CF card (512MB should be fine) and a suitable Linux distro, I'd recommend Jlime as it's especially tailored to the Jornada 7xx series. Linux is booted from within Windows CE, with a program similar to loadlin in functionality. I don't know what you mean about you can't afford Linux, it's free, that's one of the reasons it's great.

The only distros I know about require you to partition your card and move the files on there...

Consider using PocketDos to get a Linux partitioning software then from there partition the compact flash card and move the files...

Maybe NetBSD will be able to do boot, I remember the NEC MobilePro 780's bsd could boot the linux image via an actual .tar.gz image...

well, i no linux is free, i meant the card reader, lol, im broke right now, but ill hav 2 give it a try and let u all no
