Favourite OS
Windows NT 4.0
Which Computing gave me a total opposite idea. A Hard disk with one missing windows file needed:

A new Hard Drive
A new XP CD

Costing quite a bit. Mind you, some independednt trader decided to "replace" the disk, but he used the same one again, and charged for it. They knew beceause of invisible ink on it. He was reported to Trading Standards :o

Pfft.....every experience I have ever had with PCworld was Bad

I sometimes take computers there with silly faults just to see what they say.

Here's a list:

Problem - IDE cable has "mysteriously" fallen out, hard drive end
PC World Solution - New IDE Controller (?) and new hard drive + £50 labour

Problem - No RAM in the PC
PC World Solution - Need new memory. When questioned if they meant ram or hdd the tech guy answered "to be fair I'm not sure. It's probably best to have both done.

They are crap, fleecing people all the time.

PC World is like Polish Dekanex:
It looks funny, but it's all truth.

My friend's computer got overheating. So, he took it to Dekanex.
Result: blowing some air inside using, probably, mouth (polished heatsink has some marks of spitting) and 1.4GHz CPU (there was 1.8GHz CPU, unfortunately stolen)

I wanted to buy a VGA-VGA male-male cable to my KVM ladder (a few KVMs stacked and connected to support 16 computers).
I got cable with rusted plugs, metal parts fallen apart while connecting.

My friend wanted to know his new (bought in Dekanex) network card's MAC address.
Response: "Please contact Apple Computers" :D

Bad pixels in LCD panel, exactly about 1 inch (2.54cm) near the edge.
Result: Using OSD functions picture had been resized not to show in bad pixels area. Of course they wanted money for "repair".

OKI Dot matrix printer with knob removed, there is a hole and metal rod to install a knob.
Response: It's a factory model without a knob.

Dirty CPU heatsink
Result: heatsink changed to new, but smaller and worse model.

Flashing BIOS in Intel motherboard with BIOS recovery from floppy after failed flashing.
Result: Mobo completely damaged, probably chipset. Someone probably tried to connect device used to writing programs to chips directly to BIOS chip without removing it from mainboard.
