Hi,

I was looking at my equipment, and i'm sure I can come up with something really fun for my room.

I want to do something like have a media / backup server, then maybe my laptop then a normal pc.

Stuff I have to play with :
1. Main PC : AMD X2 4200+ (2.6ghz), 1.5gb ram, 280~gb total storage
2. Celeron Laptop (A MONTH OR TWO OLD)
3. 17" LCD monitor (for main pc)
4. 13" CRT monitor
5. Powerbook 100 ... dont think it works though

What cool things can I do with this setup?

Thanks

HougTimo

Unless you have a machine you can use the 13" crt on (keep in mind, even windows 95 couldn't display less that 60 hz refresh, which these things generally can't handle), pitch it.

Just found another one of my old pcs works. Its a 750mhz amd, with 256mb ram and a 20gb hard drive. No wifi card tho so cnt connect to the network. - Might look at making this into a media player?

No. I want it to be a useable machine for something. But I don't know what!?

I am gonna put 2k pro on it in the morning. If anyone has any ideas what i can use it for, let me know!

BTW :: it has no networking

Well, what you could do: set up the main PC as your work rig with the 17" LCD, and perhaps the 13" display as a second monitor (the only real advantage here is if you do video editing. You could use the 13" as a preview monitor which would be pretty nice). You could set the Celeron lappy up as your portable net surfing machine when you want to go somewhere else and browse the net (I'm assuming it has wifi?). Or, for more geek points, set it up with media center software, and mount it in your car, replacing your car stereo. Then you'd be able to do things like get it to synchronise with the music library on your main rig via WiFi, which would be damn cool. But, it might not really be practical.

As for the PowerBook 100 .. well ... I dunno. A machine for playing classic Mac games like Factory and Pizza Rush?

I'd attach some tuner to the laptop and set it up as a MythTV box.
