Here are some spelling mistakes, grammar mistakes or things that Microsoft just wouldn't say I found while installing MS-DOS 7.1

Moderator Note: This isn't an official Microsoft release, it was made by 'China DOS Union' sometime in 1999

Mistake #1: Some drivers are untested yet
Image
Shouldn't they say, Some drivers are currently untested or Some drivers aren't tested or something like that?

Mistake #2: Do you relly want to do something?
Image
Relly eh? That's a cross between rally and really.

Mistake #3: Enjoy it !!!
Image
This exclamation marks are so stupid, they explain themselves! Also highlighted in blue, Microsoft in 1999 must have really (almost said relly) wanted to get rid of DOS releasing it Free and under the GNU GPL license. I wonder how many questions about mistakes in the software were sent to the support center?

Erm, sure these mistakes are funny...

This is not an official release, as far as I know, it was created and released by the "China DOS Union". That should also answer the question if this is legal or not.

In that case, was it really created by Microsoft of did Microsoft have any participation? Because as I said, I'm pretty sure Microsoft wouldn't have said some of that stuff.

Well, I am sure the "underlying" MS-DOS Version 7.1 is the original one MS bundled with Windows 98 SE, but the install program is provided by the China DOS Union. Basically, they created what MS would have sold as a stand-alone version of MS-DOS in 1999.

MSDOS 7 was never released by itself, only as part of windows (can't remember which) then some people released it as a seperate installer so it can be run without windows

So let me get this straight. MS-DOS 7.1 was never released by Microsoft and just included in Windows. Then some people came along and separated MS-DOS from Windows, made a stupid installer and sent it out to the world? Did they get some sort of license to do this though?

Good point. They don't seem to get in trouble for sending illegal torrents on the internet so why should they here?

Windows Vista SP1
I tried that OS 2 years ago on my old computer.
In my opinion, it is the best custom/hacked OS ever.

This is exactly what they did, and I am sure (pretty sure at least) they got no license for doing that.

MS-DOS 7.0, 7.1 and 8.0 were bundled with Windows 95, 98 and ME, respectively. The only difference between 7.0 and 7.1 is FAT32 support, while 8.0 only hides itself from the user (Microsoft did this in order to make it appear as Windows ME no longer depends on DOS). I know of no other differences.

Great. Just make sure you edit the "my" to "by" some time.

If there's one thing that jacks me off to the point of calling someone a
moron, it's people, that for no good reason take the p*ss out of someone's
work whom they don't even know, for reasons that justify the thread
being closed.
Is there a reason for you to take the p*ss out of the creator of this package?
Have you yourself done something that so many have benefited from?
Or is your aim in life, to belittle others works in order to make yourself
look like the man.
The person who created this is Chinese, prove yourself to be better than
this person by making a release in a Chinese language without spelling
mistakes, Maybe then you have the right to point out a mistake or two.
Until then, posts like this need to be ditched, or the only members you'll
ever attract here are the "know-it-all" misfit children of the world.

The original post was only written for humor purposes (it is in the Jokes section). I'm sure mdogg meant no offense.

All I can see is one spelling mistake, singular not plural, the rest was
merely to be-little the efforts of the creator of this package, a person for
whom I have respect for, & a thread I see little value worth logging in for.
Perhaps we should sit and nitpic the OSBA os you were creating, would
we find any grammar errors in it, and should we start a bashing thread if
we do? no, I didn't think so!
Just another typical example of the respect, or lack of, the youth of today
display.
If I wanted to read another " i'm a hero" thread and I know more than
you I would've joined axp.

Those spelling errors were probably due to Translation errors .
And Aztech: Prior to finding out it was a Chinese group that modded DOS 7.1 the author of this thread (mdogg) thought it was a entirely made by Microsoft so that's why he thought it was a Joke.
