Are we allowed to know the name of the new site, or is it all a well-kept secret? I'd just be interested to know why everyone's saying it's got a very weird name, that's all.

Can't we tell everyone anyway? After all those who are there already know that new sign ups are switched off, you cant access posts without being signed in... I doubt it would hurt to be honest.

I guess it wouldn't hurt, but they might not think so.

Who cares? They have nothing to do with us so we can do pretty much anything we like

Well as far as I can tell, what I presume to be the new name is mentioned in this thread: http://www.betaarchive.co.uk/forum/view ... =1206#1206

Putting the name into Google produces nothing, so it must be seriously secretive! (they've been around a while now haven't they, so it would have been indexed if they were allowing it to be)

Ehh I'm not invited either... still, understandable since I wasn't as active as I could've been... this place looks like home to me though so I'm staying here ^_^

Heck, that's ridiculous - completely covering it up like that, even having a fake company?! It doesn't work anyway, because on their homepage the link to the "Corporation"'s discussion forum (which doesn't actually work) is osba.classicbeta.com - bit of a giveaway there that this is actually related to the new OSBA!

I see why I wasn't finding anything before - the name of the site is actually 2 words (although the actual site seemingly still doesn't get indexed by Google). My search did pick up a rather anti-gay YTMND that seems to have been made by the OSBA member Knifethrower - here's a small part of the site that I was able to grab from the YTMND:

Yeah I've been keeping eyes out for news (and that's how I found this place, however long it took ) and I thought that was a little odd... going by the tone of that though they're feeling very strongly about the users they're allowing/disallowing... I do wish them luck but I'm not convinced it's gonna stay peaceful, they do seem very highly strung (though that may be understandable)...

Edit:

Err... yeah, that's a bit of a hint there... maybe that whole 'hiding OSBA' thing could use a little more work

A bit - ???
That's the understatement of the year, in seeing the response of the crowd
there, it justifies why OSBA closed it's doors as far as i'm concerned...
That's the way I feel about it right now...

well as most know OSBS is back OSBetaSpace, with a new direction, we decided not to use the OSBA database as it doesn't belong to us. We are currently under a new url http://osbetaspace.com. We are also inviting members, we are not a private forum like Glenda Corps is. We are striving to start a new OSBA from scratch. We have started to implement the rules, we also have an irc channel set up with guidelines. Thought I should tell ya guys, please ignore that old email ptcfast2 stupidly sent before accusations started to be thrown around. Everyone has moved on, no damage was occured and we are just here to provide everyone a safe, and secure place to chat and provide information. We are taking applications for news posters. So if you are interested please visit http://osbetaspace.com

Another new OSBA?! Come on, isnt there enough now? This site is probably the most official any new site has become so why make another one now? If you did that right at the start you may have had a chance, but doing it months after is pointless. And Im not just saying that because I run this site, Im saying it because most people have already found a new place to talk about beta software, namely here or glenda corps.

i don't see a point in another site either. most people are here now, plus betaarchive is getting more an more active each day. I don't mean this in a bad way, but i can't see you forum lasting

grabberslasher says (over at AXP)
"Glenda Corps" is the name of the new authentic and authorised/current version of the OSBA database. However it appears to be invite-only.

For people who wish to join up with some of the old OSBA community without the elitism of the new forum (or if you haven't been invited, or just hated OSBA as it was), the unofficial http://osba.r-type.ca is where a lot of them are gathering.

As I personally have nothing to do with OSBA (or any spinoff of it) I cannot give you any more information, nor can I get you invites to Glenda or suchlike. I do not wish to be contacted about OSBA or its offshoots, so please direct your messages to either EBD @ R-Type or sHARD>> @ Glenda.

The only factor to consider is that the admins at R-type now have access to any and all information from the year-old OSBA database, including your Personal Messages, Profile Information (maybe passwords? I don't know).
Anyways, I heard somewhere they're preparing to send out a second wave of invites- but first they have to clean up the forum. Let's hope that's soon
Anyways, I'm sticking to here for now. Took me a while to find this forum >.< But here I am....
