For anyone thats interested, I'm selling off most of the servers that I ran as OSBA FTP servers a while back. (For anyone that can't remember and want a visual hint - take a look here - although it has changed a bit since then!)

One of the first lots to go is the drives:
on eBay here
Next will be the raid enclose and the servers themselves.

Well, if you're willing to make the journey up to the Manchester area, I've got a 3U Netfinity 6000R that you can have for nothing if you want. Three PSU's, 6x hotswap drive bays (two U160 SCSI 18.2GB drives installed). Not too sure how much memory, I'm pretty sure it's 512MB - but with 16x slots theres loads of room for expansion. Hot-swap PCI-X cards (64-bit and 32-bit slots). It's quad P3 Xeon machine - but with one catch - no processors! (but they're cheap enough on eBay)

Parts breakdown of it here: http://www-304.ibm.com/jct01004c/systems/support/supportsite.wss/docdisplay?lndocid=MIGR-4V2JF3&brandind=5000008

Im a fair distance from Manchester unfortunately. If Id have known a few days ago I was in Liverpool so I could have passed on the way home.

Im guessing it would be way to expensive to sent by post. Shame since it would make a nice server.

EDIT: Just looked at http://www.psirens.co.uk/osba/images/v3/deimos.PNG and it left me gobsmacked :) I want a server like that!

I'm not too sure of the weight of the 6000R. Bl**dy heavy though!

Shame about being up this way recently - timing's always the killer! I've also got another 8500R (the winmsd screen grab that is deimos.png) - but with no processors or memory board that I'm willing to donate for free too if you could collect? (If you wanted to upgrade it to 8-way though - it'll need an 8-way enablement kit)

EDIT: Oh and also an IBM Netfinity 4000R willing to donate too (a 1U, Dual PIII-750, single PSU - no HD's or memory in this one though).

If I'd have seen this a few months earlier, I'd have bitten your hand off and shot across to Manchester straight away :P

But now I'm trying (and failing) to get rid of my servers too...

Your's starting at £20 dude! Mind you... I'd wait till tomorrow if you really want one.. I'm listing (one of) the biggest server's I've got tomorrow. Capable of holding 8 processors, I'm selling it with 4x processors and (not too sure yet) but probably 5GB RAM.

:o Woah, you've got some pretty awesome machines there! How much memory can the IBM ones take, just out of interest - I saw that you said they have 16 slots free! Those could make nice Longhorn Server boxes :D 4 CPUs, hot-swap everything... *drools* Shame I don't have the space for it, the money (I presume they'll end up going for quite a bit more than £20!), or a car to get it home in :(

Um well... slight change of plan. One of the processor boards on one of the 8500's is screwed - so I'm putting together one big machine. The new auction will comprise of two machines (one working and one as a shell of spares) with 8x CPU's and 7.25GB RAM (ok so I had a pair of 128's lying around too :P). Won't be listed tonight tho as I'm knackered!!! Watch this space!

Yes but they're pointless because people try to go around them.
