Holla !

Notepad is a good Idea, but just try out UltraEdit its a vergy good Texteditor ( php, html command knowing )

Also you can try NetObjects, but this program make a big code for nothing.

Or just try Macromedia Flash 8 i love it

All great looking websites are hand coded. No WYSIWYG website will ever look as good.

This site was mostly coded in notepad except for the forum which came ready built, but that also was modded using notepad.

Yeah notepad is a simple prog - but with a powerful text editor who knows php and html ( with textfile addons ) you can faster work - before i got the tip with ultra edit i also used notepad, but ultraedit show tags like
<head> <tb> <a>- in other colors who makes the work much faster and easy :)

This program is great and I used to use it. It shows you and helps with syntax. :)

yep the real web developers use notepad to fine tweak it, i always think of website builders as the "noobs" way. knowing the code is the best way, and personally i dont think website builders save time, because you have to go back into the code and change 3/4 of it to what you want anyway

Correct. Also, half these programs, like word and frontpage, put in crap that makes no sense at all! Pointless code.

I agree that Notepad is the best way to make a site.

However, you could get a copy of Dreamweaver and use its code-editing features without touching it's wysiwig stuff. Then you can create a nice page, without it adding any extra crap, and meanwhile still do all the site management things that are easy to do in Dreamweaver, ie. changing a link site-wide.

netobjects is pretty neat too, but lets face it, even as extra software is somewhat nooby, we learn some more stuff with them.

HTML is easy to get the hang of. I highly recommend W3Schools, they have great tutorials. :)
