// Main computer:
iMac G5
1,6 GHz PowerPC G5
1 GB DDR RAM
80 GB SATA Hard disk
GeForce FX 5200, 64 MB VRAM
17" 1440 x 900 Screen
Mac OS X 10.4.11

// Test/Guild Wars computer:
Toshiba Satellite Pro 2100
1,7 GHz Pentium 4
384 MB RAM
120 GB Western Digital ATA Hard disk (was 30 GB, but that crashed )
GeForce 4 420 Go, 32 MB VRAM
13" 1024 x 768 Screen
TinyXP Rev 06 (slimmed down Windows XP)
Ubuntu 7.10
LFS 6.3

It doesn't even run Guild Wars as good as I like because of the small amount of RAM. But it works if you are patient ^^

WinPC

Post by WinPC »

My main Internet PC:
Manufactured: 1997
Brand: Compaq
Graphics: Onboard S3
Sound: Onboard (ESS AudioDrive)
56K Modem
2 GB Quantum Hard Drive
16x Samsung CD-ROM Drive
1.44 MB Floppy Disk Drive

You can see how much I hate modern PC's!

Also, in the same area I have an Emachines PC from 1999 with a 400 Mhz Intel Celeron Processor, 64 MB Ram, a 6 GB Hard Drive, 1.44 MB Floppy Disk Drive, a CD-ROM Drive, 56k Modem, onboard ATI Graphics, onboard Crystal Sound, and it currently dual-boots between Windows 95 Build 480 German and Windows NT 5.0 Beta 1 Build 1592. That's currently my main beta testing system. Up here I also have an old 1996 Gateway 2000 with Windows 95. For one night I installed Memphis Build 1351 over a year ago, but I quickly switched back to Windows 95. I also have a Generic PC from late 1996 with a Pentium at 75 Mhz, 24 MB RAM, a 4 GB Hard Drive, and a Windows 3.1 (IBM PS/ValuePoint OEM) installation, and a Windows 98 (Original) installation.

Up here I also have a 1992 Leading Edge Laptop with a 386SX Processor at 25 Mhz, 4 MB RAM, an 80 MB Hard Drive, a 1.44 MB Floppy Disk Drive, a Monochrome LCD Display, and Windows 95 Build 324. I also had to connect my own mouse since it didn't have a built in touchpad or trackball. I was trying to use it to learn German. I even stuck on characters from the German Keyboard Layout. Downstairs, I also have a laptop that exactly the same, only it has Sparta Build 14e, and isn't being used for learning German. Up here, I also have a 1990 Tandy 2820 Laptop with a 286 Processor, MS-DOS (5.0???), Windows 3.0, and lot's of old software, including old games. It also has an EGA Monochrome Display. I also have some Collectors items, including an old Apple IIc, a Panosonic Sr. Partner (one of those so-called "Portables") with a Monochrome (Black and Green) display booting from an MS-DOS 4.01 (Packard Bell OEM) Floppy Disk, a Generic (BSi) "Portable" system with an Amber display, a 286 Processor, and a Disk Controller that needs to be replaced, and an old Macintosh Portable.

Also, downstairs (in my computing related area) I have lot's of ramdom PC's. Most of them are at least seven years old because I don't like modern PC's, and I don't like the modern concept either.

I figured I'd add my Mac to this list

Apple Mac Pro
2x Intel Xeon (Dual-Core) 5150 CPU's
5GB FB-DIMM @ 800MHz
3x250GB HDD (1 Seagate, 2x Western Digital)
nVidia 7300GT (stock)
Standard SuperDrive (NEC/Optiarc 16x DVDRW)
Mac OSX 10.5.1 (Leopard)
1 19" Wide Viewsonic LCD, 1 20" Wide Viewsonic LCD (Dual-Head)

I'm a PC technician, and switched my main machine from a PC to a Mac. I use VMWare Fusion to test Windows Server 2008, and now Centro. The virtualization features of the Xeon alone kicks my PC's ass.

My PC:
AMD Opteron 185
2GB DDR400
1x500GB Seagate Barracuda ES (enterprise), 1x400GB WD, 2x250GB WD.
2x LG DVDRW (18 & 20x speeds)
Windows XP Media Center Edition
nVidia GeForce 7800GTX (I pulled that from a dead PC, and replaced the fan with a Silent Cooler)
Antec Nine Hundred Case w/650w PSU (can't remember the brand)

Overall, I do realize that I spend a shitton of cash every year to upgrade my systems to the latest and greatest. I don't see myself upgrading my PC anytime soon, though, as it's old tech, compared to the kickass Mac, which I'm still $2000 in debt due to purchasing it on plastic....

10 long years, frig the scene anymore.

Kids think they have deep in sources at the age of 12, why bother caring when no one receives respect anymore, they assume bullcrap, but that's all they are.

I've just got myself a laptop as I wanted a machine I can take away places:

Dell Vostro 1500
Intel Core 2 Duo T7250 2.00 GHz/800 MHz FSB/2 MB L2 cache (this was meant to be the 1.6 GHz one and the 2 GHz one costs £50 extra but Dell sent the 2 GHz for some reason )
2 GB Ram (667 MHz DDR2)
120 GB 5,400 RPM SATA HD
Genuine Windows Vista Business (32-bit pre-installed but I replaced that with the 64-bit version and activated it with the supplied key)
128 MB GeForce 8400M GS
9 cell battery
15.4" 1440x900 screen
Price (including tax and delivery): £440
