You've got ethernet built into the walls in your house? Nice!

Ethernet cable is Gigabit anyway, its the quality of the cable that will be different. It just makes it more likely to reach those speeds. Its a shame Gigabit hubs etc are still so expensive.

Take a look at http://www.betaarchive.co.uk/misc/server/ :) These pictures are outdated however. If you like I can take some new ones? Let me know.

Looks pretty good, whether or not you want to actually take updated pictures is purely up to you but it would be nice. I use my main desktop as a server, mostly for ftp transfers and vnc. Also have been thinking of running a teamspeak server as well. Got a friend who runs a web server and has started into sql, hoping to one day start an ipb. Great pics tho, servers always look interesting to me.

wow that was speedy! the 116W system, could you post the spec/connected devices?

a socket A board, chip and ram i have spare measured about 45W, so with a hdd I hope to still keep it cheap to run.
