Sounds like a neat idea. But, what programs are you able to run while booting Windows XP from the RAM disk? Any Microsoft Word? Is there any Internet Connection? :)

I'd say they'll run fast in the 1st place. Some time ago, I was running Windows 98 and Office 97 completely in RAM (this was on a 1024MB box w/a 600MB RAM disk) and although the boot-up was taking quite a long time, this thing was incredibly fast once booted. Programs opened instantly, for example.

That much extensive use of ram would probably fry my motherboard...
