Firefox users, rejoice! Any who have not already got this installed need to be shot.

I'm talking about FireFTP. It's a brilliant and lightweight FTP client built just for Firefox, and it runs like a dream. I figured I'd write up a guide for those who are less informed.

1. Getting FireFTP

First off, download and install FireFTP: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/684.

i. I advise you to get FireFTP button as well, for the lazier of us out there... https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/2200.

2. Configuring FireFTP

After you re-open Firefox, you need to go to Tools, and click FireFTP. This will open up the client.

You might not be quite so familiar with UI, but I made some pretty pictures for you to follow.

i. First, click the "Create an account..." in the drop-down box.

ii. Account Manager will pop up. Configure the following as shown in the picture. (This is only for the "Main" tab.) NB: I snipped all the files in the pic just in case it broke any rules by showing them.

iii. Now go to the "Connection" tab. For security, use "Implicit SSL (Good)". Please note, you MUST change the port number from 990 to the port number shown on servers.php.

iv. Click OK, and wait for the connection to be established.

3. Using FireFTP

Basically, FireFTP is used like any other FTP client. I'm sure you'll find your way around from here.

Hope this guide is useful/helpful.

Certainly makes it easier than downloading wine to get filezilla to work on 64 bit Linux just to download a file on BetaArchive! Much more convenient to be in browser too. :P
