It very well looks like this could be the final one, because according to wzor

Quote:
6.1.7271.0.win7_rtm.090709-1520 - NEW candidate in FINAL RTM branch build.

So if this gets signed off by Monday, 7277 wouldn't have been reached :(

Oh, don't worry. It will sure be recompiled. Although I believe it'll be 7300. Vista wasn't 6066 either.

They anyway will recompile the build with the number they'll choose...

(Personally I think it'll be 7300, but they can make any number at all...)

Well, if the normal pattern holds up, then 7272 should be compiled in the next couple hours. I have a feeling that it will be the build that is recompiled as 7300, and released as RTM.

Same here. Follows the pattern of the known builds and if the 10th is supposed to be the last build day then 7272 seems logical. 7272 is a rather nice number but yes it will probably go out as 7300 if that is the one picked.

Numbers like 3959 for Windows server 2003 sp2 and 18003 for vista sp2 could be chosen.
Server 2003's 3790 could be 3800 and Windows 2000's 2195 could also be bumped to 2200. These never happened.

They could just bumped it to 7275, 7280 or 7300, but could be 7272 too.

From Softpedia:

Quote:
Before Windows 4.0, the Redmond company did things a tad differently. Windows developers would simply sum up figures in accordance to how many days had passed since the previous release was offered. “Windows NT 3.1 was build number 511, NT3.5 was build 807, NT 3.51 was build 1057, NT 4.0 was build 1381,” Larry Osterman recalled.

After NT 4.0, the Windows project adopted the same system as the Exchange team. “The Exchange build numbers were rounded up to round numbers for major milestones in the product. So Exchange 4.0’s RTM version was 4.0.837 but Exchange 5.0 started at build 1000,” he stated. This is how Windows 2000 ended up as Build 5.0.2195. And Microsoft continued with the strategy moving forward, turning it into a tradition. This is how 5.1.2600 was the build for Windows XP and 6.0.6000 for Windows Vista.

Also, according to TechARP:

Quote:
Update @ July 9 : Although there have been rumours that Microsoft might not make the earlier July 13 deadline for the RTM of Windows 7, our source indicates that Microsoft is firmly on track for the July 13 release date.

Anything checked :P
I believe 6.1.7600.16384.win7_rtm.090710-1945 is probably the final, as it is a nice round number (7600).
