What's with people making these fake Connect screenshots, lately? No, this is obviously fake - common sense will tell you that.

Development of 8 has already started. MS announced in April, that they were looking for new programmers for Windows 8. Development of successor of currently completed Windows is always started during RC stage.

but i doubt they will be based on the "midori" project

Microsoft Midori's got nothing to do with Windows at all, if I remember correctly, it's the basis of a brand new kernel that may be used for something worth developing in the distant future.

i know about midori, must be something similar to the singularity project which you can download and compile from ms research labs.

but that (chinese?) author apparently confuses win 8 with the codename.

Youa re right about it being fake because of sizes but not quite on.

11gb is the total queue of the "downloads" but the individual files are of the wrong size anyways :p

If it was Windows 8 then why did it still say GRMCULFRER? The RM should be B1 instead. RM=RTM, B1=Beta 1 and anything before it. Fake...

Of course its a fake. For the following reasons:
1. Look at the file name: 7312-0-090703-1400?? This supposed to be: 7312.0.090703-1400
2. Windows CodeName: 8 is 64 Bit only.
3. MS has no reason to compile both EN-US version and JP version in this early stages.

It's fake simply because it too early for builds to go on connect, even for specially selected partners. To avoid screenshot/info leaks, the will avoid external testing until they are satisfied that a build is ready to be tested. That is at least usually completion of Milestone 1. Then a specially selected build is posted to TAP.

The first 7 build sent to testers was 6519, after 519 builds from Vista RTM and over 1 year's time. So I assume, we can expect Windows 8 M1 (or whatever it'll be called) in 3rd quarter, 2010.

What? Why would Microsoft release a non-demo'd pre-alpha build of anything to anyone? (obviously not including Longhorn tech previews on MSDN) And I think this is the same guy who fabricated 7279.

The announcment in april was only an april fool no?

Anyway it's sure that Microsoft has already started to ''create'' windows '' 8''

Here's a good source on this subject ( But it's in french, for those who can read this language )

http://www.clubic.com/actualite-272146- ... dmond.html

It also has some ammateur screenshot on the concept, according to the new file management MS plans to create. Looks very interesting.

I also have a credible source from a ZDnet blogger.

There are other related stories on her site too.

I know it is fake.
But how come the colours of fonts are not the same.

The black one is just text
The blue one is a link to download the FTM manager
The red one is a warning for an server overload, this is a common line of text in many other connect download pages.

You can spot the fake by looking at the filename.
it uses {-} instead of {.}

NO

Midori is ONLY a RESEARCH project.
It will NEVER become the next version.

It wasn't meant harsh, but almost everybody thinks that it is.

This concept has a new pop-up system for Windows and the Longhorn Live Icons, what I wanted to show in here is that if you have an Action Center alert the Icon will grow and move making it more visible to the user, so when the user clicks the icon, a pop-up shows up with the Information about the alert, as well as an instant solution, so the user won’t have to open another window just to fix something…

Image

Also I changed the Windows Orb to what I think will look better, here I don’t have really completed what I wanted but its essentially a simple boring Windows Orb, but when the user clicks or puts the mouse over it will have a Live Icon animation, such as removing the orb , making the Windows Flag grow and shine.

As usual i try to keep it as real as possible.

So What You Think?
