Windows 7 Build 7601
Another Windows 7 build has leaked. This time it's build 7229. Sources are indicating that unless there is a leak internally from Microsoft, this would be last build leaked before the RTM. The build string is 7229.0.090604-1901 meaning that it was compiled a week ago. Earlier this week, build 7227 leaked to the public.

Initial reports indicate that you can not use your RC keys with this build, so if you want to activate properly you should not upgrade to this build. Update: RC keys are activating fine.

Windows 7 is still on track for a July RTM, and it's possible that it may even RTM by the end of June. Microsoft has announced that it will be available in stores October 22nd.

I have heard that 7260 leaked. Can I take a guess and say that either...

*7260 is RTM
or
*RTM will be in the 73xx trunk.

Windows 7 Build 7601
Another news from Neowin.net:

Earlier today Neowin reported that Windows 7 build 7232 had leaked. What a difference a few more hours makes, now 7260 has leaked and the Russian site Wzor claims that Microsoft will build the RTM (release to manufacturing) build between June 15-19.

If Wzor is correct, and that's a big if and rumour, then we may see the final Windows 7 RTM build ready this weekend. Internal sources indicate that 7260 is still the latest build under the win7_rtm branch. Build 7260 carries the tag 7260.win7_rtm.090612-2110 and is an RTM escrow build meaning vigorous testing will commence to ensure this is the final code unless there are show stopper bugs. Folks inside Microsoft who wish to remain anonymous have also indicated that many people internally are growing tired and bored of the leaks and want development to conclude as soon as possible. I think everyone here at Neowin feels the same, lets see what the weekend brings.

It seems Microsoft likes to leak builds or something...but now they are tired of leaking these builds...

Yes i think that also, it should be build 7300.
Raiker said that Wzor won't release build 7260, i hope it does.
Maybe they wait for the final Windows 7 build and leak it asap, this week for sure i think. :D

@JerryisHere: MS don't leak any builds, they just compiling them, and they get leaked by hackers or whatever should i call them. But i'm happy that such a lot Windows 7 builds have leaked.

Well some of the Microsoft employees do, like 1 leak by a Ukraine employee...(correct me if I'm wrong)Do these "hackers" just hack and get access into the database of Microsoft and take out whatever new builds are there and release them? Just saying. :P

And yeah, me too. I'm quite happy too with these builds getting leaked, there will be at least some surprise in every/some builds =D

They get leaked by employees or if it was shipped to a partnered business.

All these leaking VHDs suggest that whomever is leaking them doesn't actually have access to the disc, but just an installation. So it could be anyone with the build installed on their machine.

It seems that Build 7260 has been leaked. Look at this :

Update: SoLoR has released an ISO version of the RTM build
Update 2: SoLoR has told us that anyone with build 72xx cannot do an upgrade install. It is not confirmed if using Microsoft’s cversion.ini hack will fix the problem.

Windows 7 Build 7260 VHD has leaked. This build is said to be the latest in the RTM branch as reported by Wzor. If you want to convert the VHD file into an ISO, please refer to this guide. Please note that you must use the installer.wim from 7100 RC.

This build was leaked by WZT from Wzor. Russian rumor site Wzor has been leaking details of Windows 7 development since it began and has been continually consistent with build leaks when it comes to quality. At the moment, only the x86 build has been leaked to the public. We will update the site if we receive confirmation of an x64 leak so stay tuned.

It seems Microsoft has been quick in compiling this builds...Look at this (source is also from windows7center.com):

According to Neowin, Microsft is set to RTM Windows 7 by June 26th. Wzor has been pushing out rumors that Microsoft has been vigorous with pushing out new builds at the request of Steve Ballmer due to Apple’s recent announcement to push out Leopard before Windows 7’s release. Will this result in an earlier release? No one knows yet.

Microsoft originally announced the RTM will be finalized during mid July. Currently, the latest build leak of the RTM branch is Build 7260 (6.1.7260.0.win7_rtm.090612-2110) , and seems to be the first build of the RTM branch. This is not the final RTM build, since Build 7261 (6.1.7261.0.win7_rtm.090615-1900) was compiled two days ago.

Windows 7 Center will keep you up to date regarding RTM dates and build leaks. Build leaks will be documented once confirmed to be real with hash codes of the original image. Be sure to check out our forums for discussion or tech-support.

I believe you mean Snow Leopard. Mac OS X Leopard released in October 2007.

I somewhat shocked by the release dates of the signing off of the RTM builds date. There are now 3 sources with different dates. I will be prepared of these dates of the RTM signing off...
