The latest of WindowsX's Vista Transformation Packs has just been released, VTP6.0 Final. It smokes.

Notable features in the new release include thoosje's brand new Vista Sidebar, which looks like the legit Vista one - It looks to have Vista Sidebar widgets on it as well, which make me think it might be a working port  (look at the desktop screenshot).

Numerous Vista applications have been converted including Media Center and Volume Control.

EDIT: It's FAQ mentions going to JCXP and downloading an application from there to do make the Orb the correct circle shape (Thanks Alexsis)

One note of warning, the Sidebar will screw up very bad if running on Windows 2003 Enterprise (SP1).

Actually, all the gadgets would display randomly on the desktop, and the sidebar will freeze every couple of seconds.

Oh, and the orb? It's a separate program.

Yeah, I just finished downloading the VTP and it describes the orb in its FAQ:

Quote:
Q: Why does the start button appear cut off at the top?
A: Without using any third party applications, the start button cannot extend beyond the limits of the task bar, therefore the button is cut off. In other words, it's meant to be like that. Here is an application that can do that: http://www.jcxp.net/forums/index.php?s= ... st&p=72436

I just guessed from the screenshot it was fixed...

The transformation pack never worked on my PC. It would install fine but then when I restarted only the logon screen has changed (and I know I told the setup to modifiy my files). Too bad it doesn't work for me it really does look like Vista (which my PC can't run well...)

I haven't been able to get this going yet, after I restarted after applying the Vista Transformation Pack I got a disk read error. A secondary partition on that Harddrive works fine, so Im guessing it was me creating 4.7million blank files on C:\ which corrupted it. I will test the VTP asap.

Yes. After installing the last vista transformation pack i had severe drag in memory and performance in everything. Not only that, but using the uninstall coupled with the pack didn't remove anything no matter how many times i ran it.

I hope he fixed it in this version, but I'm sure as hell not to try it.

Might i add the only way for me to finally remove all of it and get my computer back up to speed was to format and reinstall Windows all over again >_>.

One of the older versions buggered up one of my windows installs probably best to test it under a Virtual Machine and if you like it install it on your real hardware.
