To all of you complaining about it being x86 architecture, just remember you shouldn't be getting these. So you should be thankful that you're getting anything at all - people are taking personal stakes to get these things to you.

Do we know yet if this is actually an RC build? RC-escrow build?

This is actually Build 7105 that we saw yesterday, the supposed "RC-escrow" build. This was compiled first as build 7077.win7rc, and then once as 7105.winmain.

They jump build numbers when they reach a new milestone - 7077.win7rc is part of the RC-branch (obviously), while 7105 is part of the now-RTM branch.

It is inferior because it is virtually obsolete, due to the fact it has been superceded by x64 architecture. It is what it is through the evolution of technology. If you are in any doubt of that, you should try googling. There is plenty of information on exacly what seperates x86 from x64 and exactly why x64 is the superior architecture of the two.

Just an FYI: According to the MS Connect Newsgroups (and the Beta Program Manager) 7105 does not exist in any form and was NOT compiled, no matter what you might hear elsewhere. Sorry to Burst your Bubble.

I'm looking on the newsgroups on the Windows 7 program on connect right now, and I don't see that. Link?

Wendy in the Cafe Newsgroup:

(Direct Quote deleted because I don't like breaking the Rules (too much))

The Topic Title was "Windows 7 RTM set for September 2009"

And yes, I should know better than to post from the Newsgroups, but this was from only from Cafe and its not like it contains any sensitive information.

Hmm, interesting. Although it's apparent that the RC is going to be 7100+ following the new Engineering Windows 7 Blog post.
Quote:
Download the ISO as you did previously and burn the ISO to a DVD.
Copy the whole image to a storage location you wish to run the upgrade from (a bootable flash drive or a directory on any partition on the machine running the pre-release build).
Browse to the sources directory.
Open the file cversion.ini in a text editor like Notepad.
Modify the MinClient build number to a value lower than the down-level build. For example, change 7100 to 7000 (pictured below).
Save the file in place with the same name.
Run setup like you would normally from this modified copy of the image and the version check will be bypassed.

I wouldn't exactly call x86-32 obsolete, it implies that it's not really in use anymore. My three year old laptop isn't x86-64 and it runs Windows 7 fine.

So, I take it everyone else is stuck at 89.7% also?

It is by definition, obsolete, and it became so as soon as x64 became generally available. Just because people still choose to use x86 doesn't change that. And yeah its been on 89.7% for about 5 hours now. It seems we're stuck with a seeder that's incapable of actually seeding a torrent correctly. It would also appear that some trigger happy moderator over at TPB has removed the torrent so I wouldn't hold my breath on it completing.
