Post subject:  Windows 7 RC Escrow reached!

Builds for Windows 7 keep powering forward; it seems there are new ones being reported weekly, but here's one that might be worth sitting up and paying attention for: it appears Windows 7 has reached build 7105, an RC Escrow build. But in addition to this, it's worth remembering that a Windows 7 RC could possibly be available April 10th. This timing makes it seem as though Neowin's exclusive source was dead on, and that in a few days time Microsoft will announce availability of an RC build for its latest operating system.

The string for this build is 6.1.7105.0.090404-1235_x86fre_client_en-us_Retail_Ultimate-GB1CULFRER_EN_DVD, and it was compiled on April 4th. Many contested that this means it's a fake; April 4th is a Saturday, but those thoughts have been dismissed with the fact that Microsoft still compiles builds on Saturdays.

Russian site DJForum.ru is reporting this, but remember you'll need a good proficiency in Russian to read this. The last reported build leak was last month, and it's expected for 7105 to be leaked shortly also, although it's hoped a public announcement will be made soon, as mentioned. So, what are they changes that are being reported so far?

1. Improved networking support, the work in the local network
2. Added support for some previously incompatible programs
3. Extras in the LP (?) and small cosmetic interface improvements
4. Added support for new drivers for various devices
5. Extended support sensory displays
6. A small optimization and changes in the kernel

It seems that Windows 7 development is definitely drawing to a close, as now the only changes are bug fixes and optimizations; no new major features are being added, although keep in mind that there could still be some surprises left.

So, new leak's coming this or next week :) Also, some guy in here: http://www.w7forums.com/7105-screenshots-t509.html says it'll be leaked soon. I think we can believe him since he's the one who got screnshots of 7070, 7075 and now 7105.

It seems the RC will be released before anyone could leak it if it is going to be around a week :P.

Nah, this doesn't signify an imminent release, this is just one step closer to that release. It'll still be a good month or so.

Since each build look so similar, how can we tell if it is fake or not? Seriously, it just a number; I can make a fake one in 10 minutes.

People with sources would know if it's fake or not.
We'll all find out soon, by the end of the week.

Probably because Good Friday isn't a day for any importance for over half the world. :\

So the fact that it's a public holiday doesn't matter then? Oh and the small fact that it is one of the most important dates on the Christian calendar? I should certainly hope it does matter to MS.

Speaking as an atheist, and the bias that comes along with it, I don't really think it's appropriate for Microsoft to halt all operations just because it's a Christian holiday, just like I don't think it should be a national holiday. Neither the United States nor the United Kingdom are Catholic nations, and neither should be favoring one religion over another. Why do we get days off for Christmas, but not for Hanukkah?

Anyways, sorry I caused the topic to stray again.

If we had a public holiday for every day of religious importance, no one would ever get any work done. People do still work on good friday you know.

From Wikipedia: Other holidays observed nationwide (inc. Good Friday)

Quote:
In addition to the official holidays, many religious, ethnic, and other traditional holidays populate the calendar, as well as observances proclaimed by officials and lighter celebrations. These are rarely observed by businesses as holidays; indeed, many are viewed as opportunities for commercial promotion.
