I wasn't sure if I wanted to release this, but I figured that someone here would appreciate it, so I will make a new folder on the FTP called (Misc) Source Files and put all kinds of source code files in it. I know I got a lot more to add than this initial post, but anything that is somewhat complete and OK is welcome.

I have not had the time to review every piece of source compilation, so I do not know which one is complete, working or partial. That is why I have not added any extra tags to the archives, just the "[source]" tag. I'll let the member sort out what's working or not. If there is a consensus about a particular archive being incomplete I'll update the filename to reflect it (as with Windows NT 4 source). Labeling may also be wrong with some releases (yes, it's MS-DOS 6.0 source, not 5.0 as so often mislabeled) since I only did a quick sweep of the contents.

When it comes to Sega Dreamcast sources I guess it needs some kind of SDK to compile. I have not investigated this, the files are supplied as-is. Let me know if anything is beyond usability and I'll delete the file off the server. Please upload any usable SDK and I'll add it to the SDK folders.

As for uploading sources, please send up only rare sources. There is a lot of source code out there, but BetaArchive doesn't want to become "SourceForge v2", we only want to keep the most rare, unusual and historic pieces of code such as Windows NT, MS-DOS and Quake etc.

First batch of source code archives include:

Wow! BetaArchive is going through an expansion!

First abandonware (maybe it was there all along, but I didn't see it), console betas, and now source code!

No, Windows Research Kernel

But I'm pretty sure that wouldn't qualify as Beta *or* Abandonware, so I'm not sure whether that'd be allowed on the Server.

Hm, why wouldn't it be allowed? Isn't the source open and free for use?

Added the listed source files to the BA server.

Well, if you count for certain academic institutions only as being open and free, I guess so :/

The dreamcast games you would need the Katana PC for dreamcast development.

OpenSource: No, since those are always available on SourceForge or otherwise. And it's not very rare either.

Early linux: Same here. You can always go back in the sources and compile whatever you need.

MinuetOS: Unless you can find the very first piece of code it's not much of interest since MinuetOS is not very rare or special.

We can't keep every piece of code available on the net, we will try to keep only the most rare and unusual ones. Game sources are interesting too since they are never released in its source form. If anyone has a candidate for a source release then send it up or contact me and we'll see what we can use.
