Nice! IE8 Took only 2 years of development, while IE7 took 6 years and is very disappointing, so I really hope IE8 is going to be as stable as Windows 7.

Going from the beta and RC builds we've had, IE 8 is certainly a step in the right direction. Internet Explorers now a browser I can live with using.

The full build tag was specified. It's

8.00.6001.18691 (longhorn_ie8_rtm(wmbla).090221-2351)

Microsoft plans to release it on March, 17 at Internet Explorer CodeFest during MIX09 UnSessions.

But the leak should happen soon.

It's not GIF, it's PNG... It always was static, wasn't it?

The size of an animated gif I have is too large to be uploaded here, so I scaled it and it resulted in loss of animation.

Some news from WZor. He says the leak is delayed a bit since in Microsoft suddenly appeared some doubts about the RTM and he doesn't want to release a build which potentially may not be a final release. In other words, there still be not internal announce about RTM and Microsoft can bring some changes. Anyway, the situation should clear up in upcoming days.

Someone can explain me why Microsoft adds the "longhorn" label to every new product of Windows/Internet explorer?! It was also in "Fiji" and its also here.

Because the build string is matching the fact windows 7 and vista are longhorn and so is everything developed for it (though xp gets it)?

Fiji was not a codename of Windows, but of Media Center TV Pack, wasn't it? (According to Thurott, I believe..)

XP will get IE 8 but it will likely be the last product it will get. Support for Windows XP ends in April 14, 2009. That is in 49 days!

I'm not crossing over until Seven gets RTM'd, thank you very much.
XP and 2000 may have very well have been the best operating systems that I was ever running. (They are certainly better than Windows NT 3.1 and the horrors it has inflicted upon me.)

Well yeah, but I mean like, why not upgrade to Vista if you want to use IE8? If you have a modern computer, it's really not bad in the slightest. (and by modern, I mean Pentium 4 Prescott and above, nothing crazy).

A little update from WZor posted yesterday. The reason they don't release IE8 is that Microsoft haven't confirmed yet what the build will be released as RTM. Currently for partners available number of builds in multiple languages, but no one is confirmed by Microsoft to be RTM. On March, 11 the last compiled build was
