Here is what I found out so far:
  • The public beta server selects a random key from the list posted above. When keep refreshing you get all of those.
  • The upper 5 keys are 64-bit and the lower 5 are 32-bit keys.
  • The odd thing is that 64-bit keys also work for 32-bit installs. I haven't tried the other way around, yet.
  • They are valid for any language.
  • It seems like Microsoft decided to quit issuing personal keys after their servers went down (it probably takes some time to generate, which would be more work for the servers to do.)
The key I assume to be my personal key begins with "YBJBX". Does anyone else have this one?

EDIT: OMG, beaten by minutes :D

I notice that too. I keep refreshing the page and got the same keys.
This is what I got (exactly the same):

x64
7XRCQ-RPY28-YY9P8-R6HD8-84GH3
JYDV8-H8VXG-74RPT-6BJPB-X42V4

6JKV2-QPB8H-RQ893-FW7TM-PBJ73

Note that since the keys are not unique, I am not violating the rules.

Yep, can confirm the keys aren't unique, so share all you want:
Code:

Is it against the rule to post the keys if they are unique?

It is against the rules if they can be used to activate the RTM of the product. This is a beta and not an RC so they are going to change the pidgenx.dll and whatever checks the key.

That IS all they're giving out for the Public beta... Technet/MSDN is probably different, though I don't know for sure.

I can confirm that the Technet Subscribers get 10 unique (different than the public) generic (x86 or x64) keys.

Means that RC keys can be used to activate RTM?

you can actually start getting windows seven the "official way" now. just go to:

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/window ... nload.aspx

follow through, and it will give you the download link, as well as a 1 out of the 10 generic keys posted above. the key i got yesterday is not a generic key, because starting today, microsoft stopped handing out unique keys.

I wonder how much activation can be made with one key before it's used up?

imagine the bandwidth they are using... im getting 800kbs but thats probably because i have a 8mbps line!

anyway i doubt they would really limit the number of beta tester to 2.5 million, seems a bit high for a "limit" to me.

That means that they have much much more bandwidth than Rapidshare! :o

Why don't you just download the german ISO?

Keep in mind that not all 7 beta keys are created equal:

the public keys don't have the ability to use the feedback tool to send bug reports but might have the ability to send feedback (afaik)
The Technet\MSDN keys might have the ability to seed bug reports and do have the ability to send feedback (afaik)
Microsoft Connect keys do have the ability to send bug reports and are unique 5 activation keys (1 to each tester) (I know this one for sure, as this is my key)

If you don't enter any key or you enter a public key you get just the Feedback option. Does anyone actually look at the feedback reports I wonder or only the bug reports? I have sent some feedback items in but you do wonder if they ever get round to looking at them!

I don't think they would add it if they didn't plan on reading them...
