** Welcome to WindowsT Vista® SP2 & Windows Server® 2008 SP2
Beta Program Opportunity**
You are receiving this invite based on the valuable contributions you made to the Windows Vista and/or Windows Server 2008 beta program(s)!
Service Pack 2 has been developed primarily for Windows Server 2008, with improvements for Windows Vista included. This is the first service pack that takes advantage of both the single service model and improvements from early customer deployments. These include improvements in the following:
· Backwards compatibility with Terminal Services licensing keys,
· Better manageability features with DFS/FRS console, and Storage Resource Manager (i.e.: Quota Filter and File Screening Filter, and so forth),
· Print Server and Spooler performance improvements for printers in Windows Vista and Server 2008,
· Improved error reporting in DFSR to help identify incorrectly configured deployments which lead to failed replication.
In addition, some of the improvements to notable inclusions for Windows Vista are the following include:
· Additional Application Compatibility updates,
· Windows Search 4 for improved search performance and relevance,
· Support for emerging Hardware trends (primarily Bluetooth Wireless, latest BT 2.1 fixes, and support for new VIA 64-bit CPU), and
· Fixes addressing the top support call issues as reported by Microsoft and Computer Manufacturers
As with previous Service Packs, Service Pack 2 includes all previous Windows Updates to create a more convenient updating experience for customers with new PCs.

Just got the e-mail today.

Did you receive registry key that enables to download SP over WU? If you did, can you upload it?

Only invites have been sent out. There's no builds available as of yet.

Had a search on connect but couldn't see it listed in the directory, so I guess you got an invite ID too?

Please leak when you get further information :)

While I personally won't be leaking any betas, I'm sure they'll all get leaked out over time. They always do.

So other hundreds of identical and useless builds are coming.

Personally I can't understand why people collect betas of SP:s... I mean, the service packs are just PATCHES to FIX already BROKEN files in the OS. A beta of an SP is just even more half-broken untested files... And we all know that Microsoft will replace half of those files in the next service pack after that anyway... 8-)

But I guess people need to collect everything :P.

That wasn't the beta program, that was the CPP - the Customer Preview Program. Only members of the Microsoft Connect technical beta should have received this.

Calm down and don't worry, no one will need to leak from BA, as kids will leakj them the first minute the get them.
The first builds wouldn't arrive until a couple weeks before christmas. Could be earlier if MS is on track, but expect it them.

Wonder if SP2 will require SP1 be installed... Hope not =/ Updating Vista from RTM to current is annoying enough already.

If SP2 is cumulative which means it will contain both SP1 and Sp2 just like how NT 4.0 SP6 contains all Service Packs, then likely, no.

I was in the Connect beta program for both Vista and Vista SP1 and I haven't gotten an invite yet, fingers still crossed though. (I figure that If i don't get one by the end of next week, I'm not going to.)
