Nero released the latest version of its award winning optical media burning software: Nero 9 .

Nero 9 has a lot of features including:

Fast and easy rip, burn, auto backup, and copy functions
Backup files to CDs, DVDs, and Blu-ray Discs*
Create professional-looking DVD movies with integrated 3D menus
Copy, burn, share, upload, and create music mixes like a DJ
Convert music, photos, and DVDs to play on your iPod® and other mobile devices
Quick photo and video upload to My Nero, YouTube™, and MySpace
Watch, record, pause, and customize your live TV experience
Play AVCHD and other HD formats

Quote:
* Improved Nero StartSmart: Once a glorified program launcher, the latest version of StartSmart is more of a central control for the entire Nero suite that's designed to be easier for newbie users.

* Enhanced format/codec support: FLAC (lossless audio), Matoska video (.mkv), and AVCHD is now supported.

* Ad Spotter: The software can automatically identify and remove commercials from recorded TV programs.

* Music Grabber: Rip the sound track from any video clip.

* Movie Wizard: Theme-based editor for home videos includes preconfigured transitions and music for events such as weddings, birthdays, and vacations.

* Nero Live: TV viewing application for use with PCs with built-in TV tuners.

* Auto Backup: Nero will allow transparent backup of selected files and folders to add-on hard drives or (for an additional fee) the company's own online storage service.

i've been a beta tester of nero 9 ... and it was terrible. Only one beta build, no easy way to report bugs (like bugzilla or something like this) and the worst thing: nothing really new if you compare it to nero 8!?!?
Tell me one good reason to buy it if i own nero 8 already

i really don't see any good improvements over nero 6.
Nero 6 still works fine, and it burns everything i want to.
I also use nero 7 and 8, but it's kinda all the same.

The only reason I upgraded was because Vista is somewhat incompatible with Nero 6. Unless Windows 7 is going to push out more incompatibilities with software, I won't see any need.

I thought that most people used either Nero or Roxio, I prefer Nero. Since everyone seems to be bashing Nero, I'll go ahead and say what I use. Everything that comes with Nero is worthless, for me, except for the Nero Burning Rom application. When I install Nero I deselect everything but that. I wish they would sell the core application alone without all the extra crap.

Very interesting. Originally here http://www.nero.com/eng/nero9-applicati ... luded.html was posted a different list of the applications included. Here it is:

The difference? "Nero Live Gadget" was included. But, as it was excluded from the list later. So it's not presented in the Nero 9 after all, I suppose?
