his paper is a compilation of vulnerability data for client operating systems for the first 3 month, January through March, of 2008. Vulnerabilities and fixes for the following products are discussed:

Microsoft Windows Vista
Microsoft Windows XP SP2
Red Hat Enterprise Linux Desktop (v. 5 client)
Red Hat Enterprise Linux WS (V. 4)
Ubuntu 6.06 LTS Desktop
Apple Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Apple Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger)
For January through March of 2008, Mac OS X users experienced the highest number of vulnerabilities as well as the highest number of High severity vulnerabilities while Windows Vista users experienced the fewest and the fewest High severity vulnerabilities.

Very interesting. If those figures are indeed to be believed, folk who bash Windows for its security flaws will be eating their words.

Yeah, some Q2 results would be good too, assuming we're passed that which I'm pretty sure we are(Q3 now?).

The really interesting bit is the source. We're used to seeing these lists praising one or the other os, more often than not it turns out to be financed and/or ordered by some software company. This time it's a study done by the government which (hopefully) is atleast somewhat unbiased.

EDIT: Me kant spel early in mornings. And just to clarify, the source isn't technet.

LOL, maybe when it comes to spending their own money, even then, some politician could be pushing for one company or another and it could end up skewed.

And yeah, we're coming to the end of Q3 this month.
