I've heard the name Whidbey somewhere before but I never knew it belonged to Visual Studio.

The uploader wished to remain anonymous so I will not be saying who uploaded it.

Actually. I didn't.

I have no idea who did. It was quite a surprise to see this :o

Wow, I was searching for this Build for so long. Now I can take a look what MS changed from this early Build to the final of .net 2.0. Thanks :) :D

Remember that this is actually to be used in conjunction with Longhorn Build 4051 (4053 is similar enough though) to create Longhorn-native apps.

It's not actually .net 2.0, but .net 1.2 ;)
It contained Avalon and all the other Longhorn technologies as well :)

it has no expiration date and needs no serials; it will install on 2000,xp and LH 405x ( any ).

Like already said here it's main purpose is to develop Longhorn (Alpha) apps, but for that the Longhorn SDK from PDC03 ( where Whidbey together with LH 4051 originally was distributed ) is useful .

These Longhorn Apps will only run on 405x builds, because the runtimes and Apis for execution have been changed in every later build. They will be total incompatible with 4074,5048 and so forth.
