I have not seen anything around here about the Trillian 4 (Astra) alpha builds, so I thought I'd mention it here and see if theres any interest. Trillian, for those who don't know, is a multi-network instant messenger from Cerulean Studios. It supports mobile devices, sound and video chat, skins and themes, advanced contacts list, and widgets. Some screenshots;

If its not considered warez, I'll provide the download link and a link to the patcher, and update this post.

Download the latest build from here;

Download the patcher from here;

VirusTotal result for patch.exe;

Looks p. good, but last time I tried it I found the UI confusing (v3) compared to Pidgin and WLM.

Its far impoved over V3 in terms of UI interaction. The early builds were very buggy, as would be expected, and quite a pain in the ass really, but these later builds are starting to see impovements in stability. There are still a few annoying things like it forgets your accounts, so entering your account name and pass each time it fires up isnt unusual, and the removal of the irc dll. Not that it was fantastic for irc due to lack of scripting and ssl, but still, it had its uses. This current build supports AIM, Googletalk, Windows Live, Jabber, MySpace, ICQ, Bonjour, and Yahoo.

"Build 82 is now available with Even More Bugfixes! We’ve also beefed up some of the privacy settings related to the AIM and ICQ plugins. You can now globally control your outbound typing indicators, and we’ve exposed a new optional notification for when your contacts start typing you a message before a message window is created.

Special note: As of this build, users of AIM and ICQ will need to enable the OSCAR plugin to continue enjoying these wonderful services!

Enjoy the build."

could u upload that build plz :) ?+

edit: sorry thats that build hahahha

but how to enable ICQ?

Enable the OSCAR plugin, then simply setup an ICQ or AIM connection from Preferences>Identities & Connections.

Looks like it's take some UI cues from Vista which is good because I happen to use Vista.

So far the only mobile device supported is the iPhone (beta account required), whether or not support for other devices arrives at a later date is anyones guess.

The patch itself is not illegal. If the application had already been cracked, then that is illegal. As you are downloading the application from the vendor in its original form that is legal, downloading a crack, patch, no-cd or keygen is also legal, if you use those to alter, reverse engineer, or circumvent copy protection, that is illegal. Of course you do that on your own, and the only one responsible for any illegal activity is you. All of that may also vary according to where you live and the laws that apply to you.

I been following this since the very early builds from early 2007, it isn't bad but its a very long process following this, I wonder what build number they are at now, as I started following it at around build 16 or something.

Same here. Current build is 82, unless 83 has been released since this thread started. They sure take their time, something a few other developers could learn from no doubt.

Build 83 is up. Patch will request astra.dll (after trillian.exe), you'll find it in the Plugins folder.

Quote:
Build 83 features some massive new features for Trillian Astra, including official IRC and Facebook support with a few additional improvements to the user interface. As always, we’ve also fixed a handful of important bugs in our ongoing road to completion.

Its been like that forever. Lots of people have complained about it for at least the past year and they still have not fixed it. It doesnt seem to affect everyone though, always has to me, and yeah it is annoying, but thats alpha/beta software for you.
