The Intel Atom Processor is based on a entirely new microarchitecture designed specifically for small devices and low power while maintaining the Intel Core 2 Duo instruction set compatibility. The design also includes support for multiple threads. At less than 25mm this is Intel smallest and lowest power processor yet. These new chips, previously codenamed Silverthrone and Diamondville will be manufactured on intels 45nm process with hi-k metal gate thechnology. The chips have a thermal design power specification in the 0.6-2.5 watt range and can scale to 1.8 GHz speeds
