The CD-key that is used here, is the standard key that works for 30 day's.

Like the standard keys for Home Basic/Premium and so on.

They give away full ISOs of Server 2008, which costs a lot more than Vista and is also a full install DVD the same as the one in the retail packs, whereas this is just a virtual machine, so it's not that surprising ;)

In reality piracy is the thing that keeps MS alive. A china without piracy would mean billions of Linux boxes.

Never thought of it that way, but it actually makes sence. Chinese people pirate virtually anything (I'm not just talking, I've been there.) and if they wouldn't, I'm pretty sure they would not be spending over 150€ (which is the equivalent of 1500 CNY which again is probably worth the same there as 1000€ over here) on software.

Even using this key on a Retail or OEM copy it's still going to expire in 30 days though. I at least know that in Server 2003 the trial keys expire no matter if you install it using the disc/ISO that came with the trial or not, it's the key that matters.

It it's going to expire in 30 days, isn't it possible to do a trick that works in Vista that extends it to 120 days?
