I know there has been a little discussion about the upcoming Mac OS 10.6 (aka Snow Leopard), so I figured I'd put the image of the DVD given to some attendees of the recent Apple WWDC (developer conference) on the BA server.

Its a 6.5GB .cdr image generated by Disk Utility. What that means is that you'll need a Mac to mount or burn this image. (I have no idea how to convert a .cdr image to any other image format that can be read on another platform.)

It seems that the ‘CD/DVD Master’ format (.cdr) is actually the same as .iso. You just need to change the extension!

As long as its not a dmg which is usually conpressed, then you're fine.
If it's a dmg (usually other apple developer builds are released this way), then you'll need to licence the program TransMac to expand and burn the image in Windows.

Of courses its way easiler to do in mac OS X.

PS: This should be posted in mac discussion.

sorry this topic is slightly unclear to me...

are you uploading the image to the server or are you keeping it to yourself?

Sorry if I was unclear. This image has been uploaded to the main BA server.

(I corrected the initial post to make it a bit clearer.)

It's still sitting in a folder on the upload account. Andy hasn't moved it over yet. (To be fair, I didn't indicate that it was done until recently.)

If you can download from the upload account, then you can go ahead and grab it, otherwise hang tight and it should be over in the regular part of the server soon. (You can PM Andy if you are dying for it to be moved over.)

You shouldn't need a DL-DVD - it should be the same as the Leopard DVD where you can delete the extra languages and developer tools that you don't need to get it under 4.5 GB.

Thanks for the upload! :) Too bad I just downloaded it twice from a horribly slow torrent (the first time, it got deleted from my hard drive, somehow)...

Just out of curiosity, but has anyone here been able to get it running on a Hackintosh?

It has been done, but I don't believe the steps to get it up and running are public.

There's been an update to the Finder with Snow Leopard. Whenever you hover over an icon, a "play" icon can appear so you can preview a music or movie file without having to open any external player or program.

You can see what it looks like on MacRumors's website:

That's quite cool. The only thing is that you could already sort of play videos/music in the Finder in that browser view thing.
