Hey Windows Essential Business Server Beta Testers,

We are fast approaching RC0 of Windows Essential Business Server. We will update you as soon as we are a go to publish the build on MS Connect.

In order to improve your beta exeperience, we will make the RC0 ISO's and documentation available to all of you who took the previous Beta 2 Participation Survey via the downloads section of the site as soon as it is available. We still need you to take a survey so we know what your Media Preference is. We will ship the DVDs to any of you who take this following survey within the first four weeks after we announce the availability of RC0. RC0 Participation Survey (http://connect.microsoft.com/centro/Sur ... veyID=6059)

Please make sure that your Shipping Information is correct. Go here to update your shipping information. https://connect.microsoft.com/profile.aspx

Please let us know if you have any questions.

Thanks,

Kevin Beares

Hello Windows Essential Business Server Beta participants and contributors,

As promised, we are pleased to announce the availability of the RC0 release of Windows Essential Business Server.

Please keep the fact that we have reached the RC0 milestone and details on the new code confidential until May 13, when we will announce it (and other news) more broadly. We welcome and encourage public discussion of RC0 at that point, e.g. blogging.

We look forward to your participation in the Windows Essential Business Server connect program and are really excited to receive your feedback on this release. The team is looking for confirmation we have it right. Your feedback can and will directly impact the final version of this exciting new product!

The following items are Included in the download package on MS Connect:

· Management Server (Disc1)
· Security Server (Disc2)
· Messaging Server (Disc3)
· Schema Upgrade Tool (Disc4)

What you should do next:

· Go to http://connect.microsoft.com/ebs08 and follow the links to the product documentation
· Get Product Keys. If you participated in the Beta 2 release you can reuse your existing keys provided you use the same hardware. Otherwise you will need to get three product keys, one per server type, from the product keys section on the MS Connect site so you can install the Windows® Essential Business Server software.
· Install the product and let us know what you think.

Reminder: All the information on how to submit feedback, participate in newsgroups, get product & CAL keys etc. are on http://connect.microsoft.com/ebs08. If you have any other questions regarding this beta please email us at centbeta@microsoft.com

Thanks, the Windows Essential Business Server Product Team
Receiving e-mail messages from programs in which you are a participant is a mandatory part of your participation on Microsoft Connect. You can end your participation in a program at any time by visiting Your Dashboard (http://connect.microsoft.com/dashboard/) page and choosing "End Your Participation" for that program. If you do not wish to receive non-program related e-mails from Microsoft Connect, change the contact preference you have set on Your Profile (http://connect.microsoft.com/profile.aspx). This package contains all ISO images for Windows® Essential Business Server Release Candidate 0.

Downloading and burning DVDs can be unreliable. Some common causes of failure are (a) an ISO image corrupted during download, (b) a bad hard drive used to store the ISO images, (c) an unverified burn of the DVD, (d) poor quality DVD media, (e) mis-matched DVD media (e.g. DVD-R used in a DVD+R drive), and (f) malfunctioning DVD-ROM readers.

If you experience problems with media you have burned you can use the CRC values below to verify the ISO image file you downloaded matches what we released.

CRC32 values:
0xbee841c2 - Management Server (Disc1).iso
0xb0bca4c0 - Security Server (Disc2).iso
0x46274a98 - Messaging Server (Disc3).iso
0x2941d84e - Schema Upgrade Tool (Disc4).iso

The following are recommendations for avoiding or resolving issues with burned media:
- Do not burn your DVDs at "maximum" write speed. Use a lower speed setting in your DVD burning software to reduce the risk of errors.
- Use a DVD burning software package that supports verification (e.g. DO NOT use dvdburn.exe). If you use Nero, make sure you turn on the data verify option on the page before you start the burn.
- Use high quality DVD media that is matched to your DVD writer and reader.
- Make sure your machine has at least 512MB RAM.
- Check that the BIOS in your server is up to date.

Management Server (Disc1).iso - 3.680,32 MB
Messaging Server (Disc3).iso - 3.563,53 MB
Schema Upgrade Tool (Disc4).iso - 7,48 MB
Security Server (Disc2).iso - 3.840,78 MB
