Well it's RTM build, so I'd put it in Abandonware, but label it as a Technical Beta Special Edition.

Yeah, seems to be more like one of those "Microsoft Internal" release discs that are actually still just the same as RTM, just labeled differently. I don't know why they referred to it as a Beta though, especially since the disc is dated after RTM. :?

I have read the rules and put the Microsoft Windows 95 (4.00.950) (11/10/1995) [Russian] and Microsoft MS-DOS 6.22
Why did you reject the access?

Please do not use this forum for these matters, use the PM function! I've already replied to you on why your FTP application and uploads were rejected.

For those who wonder how the Technical ME CD differs from the MSDN one, setupx.dll, suwin.exe & w9xsetup.bin have one byte difference, in the MSDN one the byte is 31 and in the Technical one the byte is 30, in w9xsetup.bin the difference is at offset 223C2

Just wondering, what does the one byte difference do to the program?

Most likely it causes Windows ME to accept different License Keys; RETAIL, OEM, etc. The one we were examining matches byte-for-byte with my Windows ME RETAIL disc, so I can only assume the MSDN one takes OEM keys, or "Internal" keys? :^)

I used a retail key to install the "Special" one so

I stumbled on an article here suggesting this is the disc that was given to Windows ME beta testers.

Quote:
The CD I received in late June 2000 was an evaluation unit designed for press review, so it doesn't use the "end-to-end" hologram that the final retail CD will (this is very similar to the CDs that technical beta testers received). Other than that, however, it's identical to the retail version of Windows Me.

Considering the picture in the article is nearly identical to my disc, with the exception of being labeled "For Evaluation Purposes Only" rather than "Technical Beta Special Edition" and the absence of "Complimentary Copy," I'd say it's safe to assume this is the CD technical beta testers received. I guess the "Technical Beta Special Edition" label could just mean it was supposed to be considered a special edition for technical beta testers (even though it's almost identical to retail), but that's just speculation.. Why they would give it such a misleading name, I've got no idea :p

- Added Release 25

I am adding a whole bunch of various Windows builds that needs to be checked. All these ISOs fails with the renamer we use and I am not sure if the ISOs are fully working and if they are properly compiled. Please check these and let me know which ones to throw away, and which ones that can be fixed.

When reporting back on these please include full build tag, SKU and language so I can properly label them.

I need help with verifying this Mac OS release and see if it's complete and working.

- Added Release 27

This Windows ISO was uploaded by a member without any information, proper naming or tags, and no tools I got can identify exactly what this is.

I need some major help from the community.

Some folders have grown a lot and needs to be split up and sorted. This time it's \(Abandonware) Applications\PC and it will be split into a Windows and DOS part (just as the Games section). What I need help with is figure out what goes where. I will sort as much as I can but I can't do all by myself. I've already sorted a bunch of stuff based on certain parameters (years, titles) and those I know are for Windows and DOS, but there's a bunch I have no idea about.

This can either be done by giving me a list of stuff to move, or create a bat file for me to run so it moves the stuff.

Please do not reply in this thread but PM me instead to make sure this thread isn't cluttered for a single help entry.

Thank you.

Seems to me like it's a Windows 8 Dev build, 64-bit version Build 8102. This one seems to be slightly different from the version that's on the FTP already. The FTP version build is 8102.0 with the timestamp 110823-1455 and this build seems to report back a build number of 8102.101 and a timestamp of 110830-1739. About a week newer than the version already on the FTP.
Image

Edit: I also wanted to check out the 64-bit build that's already on the FTP, this one seems to also report back 8102.101 110830-1739, with the only thing that's different is the string of characters at the end, so take what you need from this information...

Did you test the 32bit version? Does it report the same build and date?

Oh yes, I did but I forgot to add the screenshot. Whoops :P

Anyways, yes, 32bit version also gives the same stuff, apparently... Only thing different (like with the other 2) is the string of characters at the end.

OK, weird that none of the tools detect this build and dates... I've renamed it on the FTP either way and added the ISO as an alt. Thanks.

That's sort of an unique identifier of the copy, IIRC. So it probably came from a different source.

I tried checking Release 16.
Not even mounting it works for me. I tried with Alcohol 120% and I couldn't open it up when it was mounted. I only got a Windows error that there is something wrong with the medium. Unless there's another program that can open these mdf files which I'm not familiar with or I'm doing something wrong, Anyone know how to mount this kind of file?

As it's the Mac OS mdf, it can just not work on Windows because of file format.

Yes, I'm asking if anyone knows a way to open it/convert it to a format usable by Windows?

Daemon Tools on OSX should be able to open it.

I started Release 25.
Let's start with 6.0.5112.0 (winmain_beta1.050720-1600:
- made in CDIMAGE from 2004, seems okay
- its EULA says it's server, we only have server-core on FTP, that's promising and suitable for installation
- I set BIOS date to 2005-07-21 and used VMware 14.1.1 in 6.5-7 mode (I dunno if it's necessary, but just in case)
- you need to make a partition before installing, otherwise…
Image
Seriously, I thought for a quarter that the wim is broken ._.
- I used Q8WDJ key
- checksum is the same as on thecollectionbook.info, system successfully installs, I won't make any screenshots because Rob already did them https://www.thecollectionbook.info/gall ... andard/x86
VERDICT: keep it in /(Beta) Operating Systems/PC/Microsoft Windows Server 2008 (''Longhorn Server'')/6.0.5112.0
Next up is lhs_5219.0.050830-2010_x86fre_server-LB2EFRE_EN.
- another server that we only have core version
- the checksum matches the one on thecollectionbook… for x64, wim file doesn't have SysWoW64 folder, so Rob is wrong
- changed date on 5112 machine to 31st August, rest is the same
- I used JG9M6 key
- device manager says it's x86 computer
Image
VERDICT: keep it in /(Beta) Operating Systems/PC/Microsoft Windows Server 2008 (''Longhorn Server'')/6.0.5219.0 as a x86
That was x86 version, now let's focus on lhs_5219.0.050830-2010_x64fre_server-LB2EXFRE_EN, which sounds like x64 version of the previous one
- no surprise here, checksum matches what is claimed to be x86 on thecollectionbook, but it contains SysWow64
- I changed VMware guest system from Server 2003 Standard to x64 version as it was a black screen after loading files
- same key as before
Image
VERDICT: keep it in /(Beta) Operating Systems/PC/Microsoft Windows Server 2008 (''Longhorn Server'')/6.0.5219.0 as a x64
After a break, I decided to try wsl_6001.16510.070417-1740_x64fre_SvrWeb-KB3WxFRE_EN_DVD:
- you can't open install.wim in 7-Zip, only boot.wim
- its checksum is identical to web x64 version on thecollectionbook.info, we don't have it on FTP
- I changed the date to 2007-04-18
- I skipped a key and…
Image
So I was right that if you can't open the wim file then something is wrong.
VERDICT: Broken, delete.
Maybe Windows Server 2008 6001.16510, which shares the same build number, will be any better?
- checksum on thecollectionbook says it's x64 iso
- same error as before
VERDICT: This build isn't very lucky. Delete.
That was the last Longhorn, let's move on to 6.1.7264.0.win7_rtm.090622-1900_x86fre_client-ultimate_retail_en-us-GRMCULFRER_NL_DVD, which sounds like almost finished build of Windows 7… or nevermind, it's the same as /(Beta) Operating Systems/PC/Microsoft Windows 7 (''Windows 7'')/6.1.7264.0/6.1.7264.0.win7_rtm.090622-1900_x86fre_client-ultimate_retail_nl-nl. Delete.
What about Microsoft Windows 8 (''Windows 8'' 6.2.8102.101) (x64 m3) (+DevTools)? Same story, duplicate of /(Beta) Operating Systems/PC/Microsoft Windows 8 (''Windows 8'')/6.2.8102.101/6.2.8102.101.winmain_win8m3.110830-1739_amd64fre_client-prerelease_retail_en-us (alt). Delete.

Sorted, thanks!

Be sure to include what SKUs the ISOs contain if that info is available. Helps with the filename tagging.

Second part starts with .._x86_client-professional-core_retail_tr-tr-CCSA_X86FRE_TR-TR_DV5 or, as said in release_altname.txt, 14903.1000.160809-1700.rs_prerelease_CLIENTPRO-CORE_OEMRET_X86FRE_TR-TR.ISO.
- I couldn't find a checksum for that on FTP, so finally I can download something.
- I set a date 2016-08-10.
- you can't boot it
Image
…and I'm not really surprised why http://paste.asie.pl/L3AB
VERDICT: Corrupted, delete.
I guess starting dots aren't any good, but just in case, let's check .._amd64_client-professional-core_retail_ja-jp-J_CCSA_X64FRE_JA-JP_DV5.
- install.wim cannot be opened in 7-Zip, but boot.wim can
- upgraded VM to version 10 and changed guest OS to Windows 10 x64
- in BIOS mode, it just hangs on black screen, in UEFI mode, it says "Unsuccessful". Assuming it's broken.
VERDICT: Corrupted, delete.
Will something finally work? Next up is 10.0.10122.0.fbl_impressive.150513-1845_amd64fre_client-enterprise_volume_en-us-
- first of all, I know these letters mean something, but the label is J_CENA_X64FREV_EN-US_DV5
- I CAN OPEN INSTALL.WIM, FINALLY
- BIOS date set to 2015-05-14, "unplugged" the virtual network adapter
- no SKUs to choose, install.wim has only one image, ei.cfg says it's Enterprise
- John Cena gave me luck, it works
Image
VERDICT: keep it as /(Beta) Operating Systems/PC/Microsoft Windows 10 (''Threshold'')/10.0.10122.0/10.0.10122.0.fbl_impressive.150513-1845_amd64fre_client-enterprise_volume_en-us
