Buried within several technical videos was a Microsoft Windows Vista build of 6429.fbl_multimedia_media.070514-1730. We won't bother speculating as to what this build represents, but word is spreading that this could be an early developmental build of Windows "7" (or a dogfood SP2 build). A UAC prompt within the Local Training demo shows the build as being a WEX build.

The demos themselves deal with audio fidelity testing. They're definitely worth a watch if you happen to have the necessary tools and want to test the sound coming from your computer (to prove that Creative makes terrible drivers, for example).

Comment:
I think this could possibly be a beta build of Windows Fiji that will be designed as a standalone product, planned for 2008 and sharing the architecture of Vista SP1.

Also, it doesn't fit with the current MS Trend of using Subversion Numbers to separate different builds of the Same Product. If it was true, It would show that MS are well on their way to developing Vienna/Windows 7.

Also, you have to remember that various labs build numbers can be vastly different to each other, even for builds compiled at a similar time.

I don't really understand how you found those screenshots and why they are important, I don't think Microsoft will make a Build 6429 with close to nothing changes since build 6001, so even if we're sure they aren't fake, those screenshots doesn't prove or show anythink relevant about Windows "7"

Funny you say that actually, I really do find that hearing so much about betas makes the RTM release pretty boring because by the time it's released we've pretty much seen the final product...

I can't imagine how the Windows team feel about each version of Windows by the time it goes RTM...

Yes, something like that. But well, they're getting a new one to cope with shortly afterwards (in this case, Server 2008 or later "7").

Hmm... Any downloads to this? Also, wouldn't the next Windows start off after the Server 2008 builds?

It has already been said that this build is unlikely to really exist IIRC. Please try not to unnecessarily resurrect old topics.

In a year? I think so. Look at how many they did back in 2006

At the point it was found, it wasnt exactly a year, closer to half.
but anyway, this has already been discussed, so why bring it up again?
