Forum rules

Please read the following rules before posting a download request in this area:

1. Don't post a request if you have under 10 posts as stated on the front page. If you do anyway, it will be deleted without further notice. This also applies to other members: If you see a request by someone with less than 10 posts and it hasn't been deleted yet, please don't reply to it.
2. Don't request for warez or any copyrighted software. Only betas (no matter how old or new) and finals of operating systems and applications that are at least 10 years old and therefore classified as abandonware are allowed to be uploaded to and shared on the BetaArchive FTP server.
3. If you have your own FTP server where you'd like other members to upload what you're looking for to, please don't post its login details in any open forum as that will probably lead to abuse. Post the login details in the Private Servers section instead.
4. Check that we don't already have the file on our FTP servers. If you don't have access to the FTP servers then ask someone who has (a moderator for example).

EDIT: SORRY, someone please move these two posts to the req/offers section for me.

I also have a Windows 95 Upgrade CD, I'm not sure how to tell if it's OSR1/2/etc. The files are dated 7/11/95 and there is a misprint in the readme.txt where the year says l995 instead of 1995. The setup.exe version is 4.00.950.

CD says "Disc Assy. 050-052-901" and "0895 Part No. 66671".

AND

Windows 95 Companion "For Distribution Only with a New PC", "0795 Disc Assy. 000-11771", "208368".

I also have another Windows 95 Companion CD. This one says "INCLUDES CD Sampler! with FREE GAMES", "For Distribution Only with a New PC", "0796 Part No. 000-45235".

Any interest in me uploading these?

It's the 1st edition of window 95, prior to OSR1, OSR1 was released on January 1996, and showed 4.00.950A in the system properties, this one you have will just show 4.00.950.

Pretty simple:

All the Windows 95 OSR builds say "4.00.1111" on the command line and 4.00.950 [B/C] on the system properties window.

There are the following OSR (final) builds:

Windows 95 OSR 1 (4.00.950A)
  • System properties: 4.00.950
  • Command line: 4.00.950
Windows 95 OSR 2 (4.00.950B)
  • System properties: 4.00.950B (sometimes without B)
  • Command line: 4.00.1111
Windows 95 OSR 2.1 (4.00.950B)
  • System properties: 4.00.950B (sometimes without B)
  • Command line: 4.00.1111
  • "real" version: 4.03.1212
Windows 95 OSR 2.5 (4.00.950C)
  • System properties: 4.00.950C (sometimes without C)
  • Command line: 4.00.1111
  • "real" version: 4.03.1214
