Forum rules

Please read the following rules before posting a download request in this area:

1. Don't post a request if you have under 10 posts as stated on the front page. If you do anyway, it will be deleted without further notice. This also applies to other members: If you see a request by someone with less than 10 posts and it hasn't been deleted yet, please don't reply to it.
2. Don't request for warez or any copyrighted software. Only betas (no matter how old or new) and finals of operating systems and applications that are at least 10 years old and therefore classified as abandonware are allowed to be uploaded to and shared on the BetaArchive FTP server.
3. If you have your own FTP server where you'd like other members to upload what you're looking for to, please don't post its login details in any open forum as that will probably lead to abuse. Post the login details in the Private Servers section instead.
4. Check that we don't already have the file on our FTP servers. If you don't have access to the FTP servers then ask someone who has (a moderator for example).

both Featurepacks just uploaded to the BA upload ftp.

english versions, can be installed on german Vistas too. Needs SP1.
for Media TV Pack you need HomePremium or Ultimate.Wireless Pack works with all Vistas.

these files are not available via Windows Update, so keep them for future reinstalls.

Are there problems with the installation of the Media Center TV pack?
Cause Ms didn't release it for "old" vista systems only for "new" oem systems?

To the best of my knowledge they were already uploaded to the server quite some time ago.

Thanks anyway though.

@marius-m,

Yes there are problems, you are only supposed to install it over top of a clean install (that hasn't ever opened media center) though if you do a upgrade/repair install it should be ok.

I didn't do it over a clean install, and went against the exact conditions that MS said you shouldn't, and it did stop the Media Center picking up the tuner. However, uninstalling and reinstalling with the latest drivers fixed the issue.

no problems so far, just run regulary WindowsUpdate.I think once these packs are installed they will patch themself.

WHy MS is doing those for OEMs only is a question that only MS can answer :

Update information
We are currently not making this update available to end-user customers through typical distribution channels. Currently, end-user customers cannot contact Microsoft to obtain the update and cannot download the update from a Microsoft Web site. This update can be offered only by certain original equipment manufacturers (OEMs).

For OEMs that have offered this update, the update will be preinstalled on new computers that are purchased after June 2008. Additionally, OEMs that have been given access to this update may choose to provide it to their customers who previously purchased computers that run Windows Vista.

OEMs that have access to this update and that choose to make this update available to customers may use different methods to communicate the availability of this update to their customers. Frequently, if an OEM is making an update available to customers, the OEM provides a CD to the customer.

The WLAN pack is for "new hardware", like Bluetooth 2.1 and the MediaCenter is the one we will most likely see in Windows 7, it features multiple DVB tuner support for example ( 4 in Ultimate ).

Also the Mediacenter seems to have less bugs over the rtm versions of SP1.
