Forum rules

Please read the following rules before posting a download request in this area:

1. Don't post a request if you have under 10 posts as stated on the front page. If you do anyway, it will be deleted without further notice. This also applies to other members: If you see a request by someone with less than 10 posts and it hasn't been deleted yet, please don't reply to it.
2. Don't request for warez or any copyrighted software. Only betas (no matter how old or new) and finals of operating systems and applications that are at least 10 years old and therefore classified as abandonware are allowed to be uploaded to and shared on the BetaArchive FTP server.
3. If you have your own FTP server where you'd like other members to upload what you're looking for to, please don't post its login details in any open forum as that will probably lead to abuse. Post the login details in the Private Servers section instead.
4. Check that we don't already have the file on our FTP servers. If you don't have access to the FTP servers then ask someone who has (a moderator for example).

I know on the Betaarchive server you have all leaked Longhorn builds, but they are in RAR foramt. I need Build 4093 as an iso file on its own please. I'll explain why:

Before I discovered this site, I found an FTP server with all the LH builds on it. I downloaded Build 4093 and the server speed was very, very slow even though I have fast broadband access. It took 2 days for Free Download Manager to download 800mb out of 1GB of the file. The next day, I went to download the rest of the file, only to find they server had been permanently closed down! If someone finds an alternative server to resume the rest of the download from, please PM me, as I would be most grateful, and I don't want to of downloaded just over half a large file for nothing and have wasted two days worth of downloading.

Thankyou!

Dude, check JoeJoe.org again, that server was put back up again.
And the reason It was closed down was because the people of JoeJoe.org were hammering it, so let that be a lesson to you. The server belongs to Thomas Hounsell, he's a mod on this forum to, perhaps you should say thankyou to him/kiss his ass.

Um. I'd rather not have my ass kissed. :^)

On another subject, I have always said that the files on my server are direct from the BA server, so you'd just have to rename it and you could resume from the BA server 8-)

EDIT: Ooooooh! 1337 post! :P

But I thought that the files were in RAR format on the server, and the original file I was downloading with Download Manager was .iso format. If your files on the server are .iso format, how do I setup Free Download Manager to download from sites with SSL encryption, please?

Firstly, never use a download manager to download from FTP, that's what FTP clients are for.
Secondly, mine have always been RARs.

And third:

In the .RAR is an .ISO file

Just unpack it.

OK, another question, why should I never use a download manager? Its not like the FTP server will explode if I use a download manager!

No, but people like you who leach using download managers hammer the server, increase CPU usage and ruin it for everyone. It's because of people like you that I closed that server in the first place.

Download managers do not care about Connection limits. I had a connection limit of 1 connection per IP. Download managers just continually tried to connect even though the server rejected them. This got to the point where about 40% of my CPU was being used, just because of people hammering the server using download managers. It was killing the performance of the websites I hosted because PHP took much longer to process thanks to the reduced resources.

That is really the reason I switched to using SSL. It's not because I needed it to be secure (not something that matters on a public account), but because it'd prevent people from connecting without properly configuring their FTP Client first.
