Forum rules

Please read the following rules before posting a download request in this area:

1. Don't post a request if you have under 10 posts as stated on the front page. If you do anyway, it will be deleted without further notice. This also applies to other members: If you see a request by someone with less than 10 posts and it hasn't been deleted yet, please don't reply to it.
2. Don't request for warez or any copyrighted software. Only betas (no matter how old or new) and finals of operating systems and applications that are at least 10 years old and therefore classified as abandonware are allowed to be uploaded to and shared on the BetaArchive FTP server.
3. If you have your own FTP server where you'd like other members to upload what you're looking for to, please don't post its login details in any open forum as that will probably lead to abuse. Post the login details in the Private Servers section instead.
4. Check that we don't already have the file on our FTP servers. If you don't have access to the FTP servers then ask someone who has (a moderator for example).

Hey all!
After Namronia's post about some DOS builds I want to create a DOS Collection CD which contains every single DOS build we may find.
I'm downloading the files, and I also have a bootable ISO of DOS 3.22
This one allows to boot Windows 1.00 from a CD drive.
So, I hope you can help me.
To begin I hope we can make a listing of all the known versions, (hope to get Namronia's help).
Thanks all!

Here is a working list, based on my version.

I've been arranging these historically, so that it is easy to see what leads to what. pc=pcdos/ibmdos ms=msdos, dr=drdos etc, gs=gsdos.

For clone dos versions ROM-DOS, GS-DOS &c, these are allocated to the emulated version (as informed by 'truever'. For IBM/MS DOS, the version is taken from the manual pages.

One sees that there is pc600 and pc610 (beside pc630). This is because the former was taken from the four-diskette IBM DOS 6.00, and the latter from PC-DOS 6.10 (five diskettes).

Many of the fixes are applied to the same directory.

Note that the Windows diskettes are likewise distributed. Windows 1.x with dos 3, Windows 2.x with dos 4 (and OS/2 1.x), Windows 3.0 and 3.10 with dos 5, Windows 3.11 with DOS 6.

Where several versions of DOS exist of the same version, these are allocated as subdirectories. Also, note that where stepups etc are held, which result in a version (WFWAO, DOS 6.2, 6.22 stepups 6.3 stepup), these are held in the directory of the resulting upgrade. 6.3 exists, but no copy exists.

_help directory contains third-party help systems aimed at particular DOS versions. Beginning with DOS 6 (pc-dos 7), help is included as a part of the OS.

deu = deutsch, fra = french, kor = korean, files = unpacked files (eg for pc-dos 1.0, 1.1).

All PC-DOS versions exist with BASIC and BASICA unpacked and processed through a slightly modified movbas50, All work under Windows 2000, etc on non-ibm hardware. Two of them require the correct DOS (3.1, 3.2).

The oldest version of gwbasic is 1.12. Like the pc-dos versions, these correspond to the DOS versions, and not the proggie version.
