your best bet would be to look for virtual pc 5.1. the versions I have (2004 and 2007) are not win 9x compatible.

The one for Windows 98 is on the main servers here.

But it needs a key to install (pm me if you want it (its abandonware).

I have Virtual PC 5.1, but i delete installer and I have only installation on Windows ME. Better is Virtual PC 5.1 than 4.32 for 98 or ME.

Does the VirtualPC 4 installer copy files to the host computer's OS directory?

I'm wanting to have an installation that I can have on my USB drive, that I can use at college.

If there's a way I can do it with a newer version, then I'll be very happy :).

Assuming there are files it requires that aren't standard, can I run it by copying the required files into the VPC directory?

I think that it cant be ported, because Virtual PC registers something in the register, but you can try it off course.

If it worked please let us know, if it didnt, please too.

If there is one for before 95 it would be a lot easyer because all before 95 use the registry

Before Windows 95, the computer arent powerful enough, and there is no windows emulator for DOS.

Would still be cool to try and write something that could emulate a generic DOS machine on top of Windows 3.1!
